Shouldn't you be more concerned about the security at your Army schools?

you know before surgixal strike we thought there might be nuclear war if we crossed over. In fact it was worse- the trolling and denial was endless. We did get egg on our face that way. :artillery:

Still I refer you Bhai Jaan. Irrespective of the best armory and muscle power, we have good moral and never venture to attack our neighbors, believing in R&D. Keeping our differences aside, hope we can shake hands and hug to create a new era that the West never dream about ?

Actually, using @Zarvan logic, this is the exact standard that Pak police should be up to given the simply unprecented internal security challenge that failing nation faces.

As for the topic, as has already been covered extensively on this thread, many steps have been taken post 26/11 in terms of first responders being upgraded and new units being formed (QRTs and such) but the KEY element is that Indian intel agencies are working overtime behind the scenes to PREVENT all attacks where possible and their success can be measured in the fact that there hasn't been a large scale attack on Indian soil since 26/11 despite countless attempts I am sure.

Another point worth mentioning given the entry point for the 26/11 terrorists is the massively upgraded coastal net along the entire Indian coastline, the investment in coastal radars, expanded ICG, regional networked maritime domain command and control centres etc etc is simply awe-inspiring.

But of course, this thread isn't meant to gain any actual information or have a nuanced discussion but for Zarvan to show off some moderately well equipped Pakistani police units that are still somehow unable to do a thing about the daily terror attacks and suicide bombings on their streets.

According to my logic every Policeman should be equipped with a good handgun with 3 to 4 extra magazines at least to give them a fighting chance. Our Police has fought really well we faced pretty much an Army style Militancy and now all our areas are totally under control. Sorry but according to my logic if another Mumbai style attack takes place every channel of yours will be discussing same crap which they were discussing after 2008 because your forces still lack equipment

    Prove it.

And again, you are only focusing on a very narrow aspect of counter-terrorism ie the aftermath/response to an attack the vast majority of counter terrorism efforts are devouted to preventing an attack PRIOR to it ever even commencing, here Indian agencies are amongst the finest in the world given the fact that India sits in one of the world's most unstable regions and is actively targeted by a terrorist state (Pakistan) and one of the world's most notorious terror outfits (ISI) and its affiliates and yet India has very few incidents of terror attacks and since 2008 hasn't seen any large scale terror attack.

Only because of the proxy war Pakistan is fighting in Kashmir, outside of that state and minor incidents in the North East of India terrorism is unheard of in the rest of India. No major city has been targeted for almost a decade now- not even many Western nations can make such a claim.

The number of civilian deaths is also very limited in India as a result of terrorism.

    after Mumbai attack
not only raised NSG center, but also state SWAT teams

but most underrated improvement is intelligence gathering and foreign policy which forced so called "freedom fighters" to not attack civilian targets

From what I saw regular Indian 'constables' aren't permanently armed on duty, however have weapons at police stations. They remain totally unarmed on duty (a part from specialized units )........ they may carry sometimes long batons.

    @Gessler @Abingdonboy @Nilgiri @Agent_47

I believe though that the common constable is permanently armed with handgun or even an assault rifle in high risk areas such as where there's an active insurgency. (Kashmir for exemple,or areas with presence of naxal-maoists.)

    Yes.

It all depends on the location and the situation. In areas with insurgency/recent occurrence of attacks there are armed Policemen. But then when you go to a city/town deeper in the country which hasn't seen any major terrorist incident in over 10 years, having Constables walk around every corner of such a place armed with assault rifles would be, I don't know the right word......pointless?

Even then, every Inspector or above-ranked policeman can carry a handgun. And the Constables have access to 5.56 and/or 7.62 automatic rifles back at the station.

The deaths in the 2008 Mumbai attacks did not occur at the same time or even at the same place - they were spread out over many locations, spanning hours and carried out by a group of 10 men. The total figures were high (166 deaths including civilians and law-enforcement) because there weren't established QRTs under the Police. If the same type of attack were to happen today, the QRT would be available for tasking as soon as initial reports start coming in and the shooters can be subdued much quicker.

First the Mumbai Police will need to reach the location. In current traffic scenario......it will be a big deal if they reach the location.
