I really hope that the curtains makes a comeback in normal AC 3 tiers. They will provide a much more pleasant journey.
@anant_s do we need to create a separate thread on the DFCs ??

Was really hoping that Modi would start off the privatization process for at least one or two of the following: DRDO, HAL, Railways, Air India. In this day and age it's now time to privatize them, and I really thought Modi would be the one to do it.

Out of the above four only Air India and HAL can be privatised in the near future. DRDO can't be privatised for obvious reasons and still a lot of people are dependent on the IR for cheap transport. Maybe we can create a separate entity for rail travel and transport with 49% investment from private sector and the rest by the Ministry of Railways to retain the govt control on it.

To make them competitive, efficient and professional. And profit generating rather than loss inducing. The days of Socialistic Statism are gone.

Profit ? Air India , India Post , BSNL all are going up.
DRDO, HAL, BEL etc can't be done for obvious reasons.

Railways :- Some amount of privatisation is planned and is in the pipelines , but it will never be more than 25% .

There is far more margin for growth if they were to privatize. But India's problem is even now most things are state controlled and super bloated (even the army needs to be modernized and improved in capability but trimmed in size).

Don't see what the obvious reasons are for DRDO or HAL. Countries with quality defence sectors have privatized. A big reason being that competition is crucial in that sector, and with competition, comes accountability. India will never develop the sort of defense sector the US has for example, unless they privatize and open up defense production to several companies, as they are slowly beginning to do with TATA, Reliance etc.

As for Railways, 25% is a good start, but there's plenty of room to further privatize that too.

I guess RDSO needs to certify material, fire hazard is an area of concern. In any case 3AC has become new cattle class :dog:
