For a wealthy foreigner what's the best way to get around India? I travel a lot and typically use local rail transit when out of country (out of Norway) to get around from city to city, so a strong and well connected rail network is a major plus for me. The fare isn't going to be a problem, but how's the service and connectability?

For local travel trains are an option since Norway is fairly sparsely populated and mountainous, making driving trips longer.

I usually drive to work though and use rail transit during weekend adventures (I drive a Model S). Sometimes I need to go fast after a long day of work. I've got a few tickets on my record:partay:.

Anyway, I'd love to hear what you guys recommend or have experienced.

No, I didn't read through the thread:mrgreen:. Short attention span:tongue:.

The train in picture was for trail, It is a Spanish train. You will get okay service in Shatabdi(between major cities) and Rajdhani class)From New Delhi to all major Indian cities). Fair is very cheap. The speed may be slower than Europe. If money and time is not issue and you really want Railway experience and watch India. Try Palace Trains, they are like Hotels on move.

Road connectivity is also decent, Rail is almost everywhere, air connectivity is limited to major tourists, regional or state centers. It depends on what you plan. Road trip can also be a good experience. Do take a feed back from members on where you plan or which type of place you want to go.

Some adventurous people also prefer this type of Journey. :partay:

It depends on which specific part of the country you are wishing to explore. Depending on your choice, Railways or roadways holds the advantage.

Pretty impressive for an IR factory, will existing factories go this way?

Shinkansen is a distributed power rail technology and it doesn't have a separate locomotive.
As of now these will come from Mitsubishi heavy industries as only one line Mumbai Ahmedabad is proposed to deploy this technology.
