    There is a difference.
Germany is doing a German Government funded study to implement a full new HSR system[320 Km/hr].

Whereas China , after completing its study , proposed for improvements in present track , to run trains at 220km/hr .This one is completed [Survey]

We have supplied similar locomotives [because I am not sure of the power of this one , else same] to Myanmar earlier too.

So they are lucky to have Alco, and its legendary sound already.

They have been allocated different sectors for feasibility study and proposals.
However government will take a call based on return of capital values and financial proposal to fund the project.

New Delhi: State-run engineering firm BHEL today said that it has entered into an agreement with Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd (KHI), Japan, to produce stainless steel coaches and bogies for metro rail.

"To this effect, the Technology Collaboration Agreement was signed by Amitabh Mathur, Director (IS&P), BHEL and Makoto Ogawara, Senior Vice President, KHI in the presence of Atul Sobti, Chairman and Managing Director, BHEL and Yoshinori Kanehana, President, KHI," BHEL said in a statement.

According to the statement, the agreement covers establishing state-of-the-art design, engineering and manufacturing facilities at BHEL, India, using Japanese technology.

It will also entitle BHEL for technology advances and upgrades.

BHEL has been a steady partner in the growth of Indian Railways for over 50 years by supplying electric as well as diesel locomotives, EMUs, and propulsion system sets and drives for the same. Kolkata Metro, the first metro in India, is equipped with BHEL-made propulsion system.

KHI is a leading manufacturer of heavy equipment/products and its Rolling Stock Company has supplied EMU (Metro/Commuter) trainsets to various countries like USA, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc., besides Japan.

KHI, is also the manufacturer and supplier of Shinkansen High Speed Bullet Trains, proposed to be introduced in India on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.

Why do we need another state-run corporation to make metro coaches when we already have BEML doing the same?

Railways sanction Rs 748 cr Jeypore and Nabarangpur, Odisha new line
    By: PTI | Bhubaneswar | Published: July 4, 2017 6:20 PM

The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned a new broad gauge (BG) line between Jeypore and Nabarangpur in Odisha, officials said. The 38 km long new line project will be implemented on cost-sharing basis of 50 per cent each between the Railways and Odisha government. The cost of the project is Rs 747.91 crore and is expected to be completed in three years. The project is important for connecting Nabarangpur district of western Odisha with Jeypore in the southern region to an existing station on the Kottavalasa-Kirandul line. The new line will provide connectivity to important towns like Koraput and Jeypore in Odisha and Jagdalpur and Dantewada in Chhattisgarh. The line will also be useful for connecting Nabarangpur to Junagarh in the Kalahandi district. Odisha government will bear the entire cost of land and 50 per cent of construction cost of the project. The link will be a boon for transporting maize, rice, fertiliser, cement, wheat and others from various villages and towns en-route, the officials added.
