    Till date private entities were not allowed to come into Defence Sector. Recall that TATA came out with a 155/52 cal gun and only then did OFB suddenly realise that they had the ToT of FH-77 and they can develop it to produce Dhanush. And they were given time, it did not matter that Indian Army waited another two years inspite of a product being available in the Indian market being made by an Indian firm in JV with a foreign partner and they came out with a 155/45!

    Just to ensure that OFB is not kicked and vote bank remains secured.

    Recall the move by MoD to give few contracts to L&T for building warships as CSL was booked with IAC-1 construction, the Trade Unions threatened strike and RM Manohar Parrikar backed down.
