Big words being bandied around. First, the grass root data availability and integration has to be brought about. As of yet, IA has pathetically slow data access and connectivity is dubious at best.

Arguably though for the Cyber and Space commands one wouldn't need the grass roots levels to be involved, Cyber (and Space in particular) are arenas taken care of at a central/high level.

That is our first line of defence against cyber attacks. Kill them with boredom.

What they meant is its not a command structure yet. It will be new divisions. In recent interview IAF chief said full fledged command will take atleast 5 years. Division will be headed by 2 star.

Indeed, even the previous Air Chief had said they were ready to create the 3 tri-service divisions, they were just waiting for MoD sanction, after a while these divisions would be expanded into full fledged commands in their own right.

SPG conduct an emergency extraction drill at Red Fort ahead of the PM's I-Day speech (note the kevlar ballistic shield being deployed)

    Great find!!

So there's now two confirmed users of SCAR in India: SFF and SPG CAT.

Also, it appears to be a SCAR-H variant (7.62 Nato).

    SCAR-L (above) and SCAR-H (below)

I want to know on what basis are some CAT members issued 5.56 F2000 while some use 7.62 SCAR-H? Whoever is using the latter is surely gonna shoot to kill.

Perhaps range & distances to cover in that particular location/venue is a factor (ACOG magnifying scope supports that theory)?

Why the old model? Hope they adopt the new version soon enough.

Also, I don't see why they don't ask Tata to have JLR develop a modified version of the Range Rover Long-Wheelbase (LWB) variant, specially made for the PM's convoy.

    What do you think @Abingdonboy

    She is from Delhi Police.

Yes I noticed that also, the first time I have seen the SPG use it inside Delhi/NCR- until now they have only used it for Modi's visits outside of the NCR and used the BMW 7 series exclusively in the NCR.

I think Modi simply prefers SUVs as he like to be "seen" (as it is higher up)- hence why he opts to sit in the front of the SUV.

Also note that the SPG deployed Toyota Fortuner escort vehicles instead of their BMW X5s:

I think the X5s are on their way out- they are almost 10 years old now and have a LOT of miles on them.
It's possible that the SPG is going to replace all of their FN-2000s with the SCAR.

It's possible but I doubt it will happen anytime soon, the SPG only just procured these Range Rovers (in late 2015 I think) so will stick with the old models for some time I reckon.

Personally, I hope that the SPG doesn't ditch their 7 series fleet entirely (they have almost a dozen of them), it is a far more suitable vehicle for head of state transport but Modi is personally not a fan of them I feel.
