KOLKATA: Thierry Henry will be at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium to watch Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) host Mumbai City FC on October 25.

The legendary Arsenal and France striker, who is being brought to India by Puma, will be visiting Kolkata for a day. Besides taking part in promotional activities, the World Cup winner will get his first taste of Indian football in the evening.

Henry, who is the record goal-scorer for Arsenal and also played for clubs like Barcelona and Monaco during an illustrious career, will leave the day after for Mumbai where he will meet his fans and share footballing tips with grassroots players.

"We are extremely excited to get Thierry Henry to India for the first time and give his fans the opportunity to see him from close quarters. We know that his popularity in the football fraternity is unmatched," said Abhishek Ganguly, managing director of Puma, India.

The 39-year old Henry is currently the second assistant coach of the Belgium national team.

With Zico, Luis García, Trezeguet, Robert Pires, Del Piero and David James being part of or having been part of the ISL Indian Football is off to a great start.

Make sure you all are around when Indian Football is born.

FC Goa record first victory of the season at Mumbai City’s expense: As it happened
Richarlyson's first half goal remained the difference between the two sides and FC Goa have now recorded their first win in ISL 2016.

They are finally off the mark. After four gruelling matches, FC Goa has recorded a victory in ISL 2016. Mumbai City FC would have gone top of the table with a victory here but it is FC Goa who have prevailed at the Andheri sports complex.

A rather ingenious free kick routine a few minutes before half time led to Richarlyson putting the away side in front. At the end of the 90, it was his goal that turned out to be the difference between the two sides. Mumbai had their chances in the second half but could do nothing. The game ended with FC Goa getting the full three points.

ISL is getting a great response from the people of Kerala, Goa, Mumbai, North East and Kolkata. Specially Kerala where thousands are turning in to appreciate and support their team. Even in Delhi there were more then 25000 people gathered to see the Delhi vs Mumbai fixture. I see in the next 5-10 years Indian football will be in a much better position then it is today.

Kudos to the efforts of all the celebrities, sportstars, international football legends like Pires, Materazzi, Zico and the organizers who made this possible.

They are amazing. That's the kind of support football in India needs.
In the next five years one or two great players will definitely emerge from Kerala Blasters or North East United FC who will get signed for a major European league.
    Are you from Kerala??
