The GSLV Mk3 will be propelled in initial stage by the giant S200 solid rocket
boosters, the 3rd biggest booster in the world, and the biggest in Asia.

Mars Express was not indigenous, it was launched by Russians.

This is the 3rd fully indigenous Mars Mission, successful on the first attempt. If we had to launch a Mars Orbiter on some other launch vehicle, we also could have done it in 2004

People actually fear SpaceX easily beating ISRO when it comes to launch missions

I will tell all of them to eat a humble pie because ISRO once the GSLV Mk.3 gives a string of successes come 2017, they will charge a fee much less than that of SpaceX, we will get a flood of orders from the remaining 50 odd space agencies. This will also ensure other smaller countries open their own space agencies and for a small fee operate their own space satellites. Considering the fact that we dont need to pull others down - they will contribute & push us higher with their funding & talent co-operation so that we can take up larger & more daring missions

Come 2025 will can tell NASA to **** off..!

Moreover the funding we get will make ISRO completely independent as we may not need Govt.'s funding

Mars orbiter mission sends first picture of red planet

BANGALORE: In minutes to go Prime Minister Narendra Modi's media team will upload a picture that will show Isro scientists handing over the hard copy of the first five pictures sent by the Mars Colour Camera (MCC) aboard India's mars orbiter mission (MOM) spacecraft on his facebook page.

Soon after that Isro will make public the same on its social media pages.

Giving his first reaction after the success of MOM Isro chief K Radhakrishnan, who spoke to TOI from Delhi said: "We've done our job!"

"Everything looks great. It's now time to enjoy MOM's work in space. She's made us proud by reaching the Red Planet, following a meticulously prescribed path and course," he said over telephone.

Modi on Wednesday had urged Isro's scientists to push the boundaries farther and achieve more.

While the long term goals will be chalked out carefully, the agency, Radhakrishnan told TOI, will push MOM a little harder to achieve more.
