IAC 2 Will be a Reality Only after 2020 , Nothing Before End of this Decade.

But We will Still Have 2 CBG's in Coming Years With INS Vikramaditya and INS Vikrant And Arihant Class Submarines - which is Good !!

    Doesn't matter at all.

yes, but the Varyag is better than all those carriers.. : / it is part of of the Admiral Kuznetsov class, the lead ship of the Russian Navy. we wont have anything that compares to that until maybe the second indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vishal.

That is because our politicians never think about the country. What's more, our defense was almost zero during 90s when our economy was in a pathetic condition. It was impossible to get that kind of weapons tech and develop. Chinese started liberalization in 1978 while we started only in 1991. They had 13 years of head start and hence saw early rise then (like what we're starting to see 2011 onwards). Hence USSR's breakup was a blessing for the Chinese who utilized jobless Soviet engineers and took all their knowledge to build their own defense industry.

Here is a little comparison of Varyag and INS Vikrant
1>Varyag will carry max 50 aircrafts including helicopters.
INS Vikrant will carry max 40 aircrafts including helicopters.

2>Varyag is just being refitted by Chinese.
INS Vikrant although a smaller one will be our own carrier i.e. Made in India.

3>Comparing Varyag and INS Vikrant---both will be conventionally powered carries.

I don't think we need to worry about our capacity in that terms. the PLAN carrier is not going to come anywhere near the IOR and if so, Gorshkov, Viraat and Vikrant II are strong enough to tackle them head on. Having a carrier first time and having a carrier and using it for half a century is different. Russia might have been exploited big time, but we are going on the right track. If somehow this sh*t government is removed and replaced by a more capable and less corrupt one (100% saintly is not possible), we can get to the right track even faster.

PLAN's target is USN; our target is them. So there is a lot of difference in our priorities and theirs. They want to expand their empire into Pacific while we want to ensure they don't take a stroll in IOR without our consent.

Think tank is totally correct but the biggest threat to our aircraft carriers is the new aircraft carrier killer missile which china just tested

I'm sure they'll get her ready by 2015 though Google Earth shows little progress.
