'Indo-Pak talks will weaken Kashmiri freedom movement'

Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed claimed that India [ Images ] wants to "weaken the freedom movement" in Jammu and Kashmir [ Images ] under the pretext of talks with Pakistan.

"India is not sincere with Pakistan in talks. The fact is that India, under the pretext of dialogue, wants to weaken the freedom movement of Kashmiris and to complete the construction of controversial dams on Pakistani rivers," Saeed claimed during a meeting in Lahore [ Images ] with a JuD delegation from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan's rulers should stop the "one-sided extending of hands of friendship to India", Saeed was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the JuD.

India will have to "quit Kashmir" and Pakistan and the Kashmir issue are "inter-linked and no one can separate them",he said.

Saeed, also the founder of the Lashker-e-Tayiba that was blamed for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks [ Images ], lauded the Chinese government's decision to issue special visas to persons from Jammu and Kashmir. "The people of Kashmir laud China's efforts and measures regarding the Kashmir issue. Muslim nations should play a role like China to free Kashmiris from the clutches of India," he said.

Saeed claimed the Pakistani people were with separatist leaders like Ali Shah Geelani and supported their struggle. "The freedom movement in Kashmir will continue. India cannot crush the freedom movement though use of force. India, with the help of Israel and the US, is trying to divide Pakistan. It is behind the unrest in Balochistan," he claimed without giving any proof to back his allegation.

Former military ruler Pervez Musharraf [ Images ] had floated "new formulas on Kashmir due to foreign pressure and stabbed Kashmiris in the back", he contended.
