Emtan Karmiel from Israel launches 3 new assault rifles at Defense and Security Thailand 2017

The Israeli Company, Emtan Karmiel LTD, a leading manufacturer of small arms, guns, and weapons for military and law enforcement markets, launches 3 new assault rifles based on the MZ-4 at Defense & Security Thailand 2017 exhibition in Bangkok. The MZ-47, MZ-4P (Piston), and MZ-300 are automatic/semi-automatic weapons manufactured with today’s most cutting-edge machinery and materials.

According to Ron Pollak, VP Sales and Marketing at EMTAN, “We have successfully developed and marketed a complete line of military grade rifles for the past decade. Our weapons are made from the most advanced materials available and adopted by our customers – who are looking for a cost-effective solution that combines the comfort of the well-known and familiar mechanism (M16/M4) and compliance with stringent military standards.”

The MZ-47 is a 7.62x39mm automatic weapon compatible with the AK47 standard magazine and ammunition, available in two barrel lengths – 11.5" and 14.5". Both lengths feature upper and lower case aluminum 7075 T6 material with 650-850 RPM rate of fire, front and rear flip-up sights, hard chrome-lined bore and rifling with 6 grooves RH and 1 twist in 9.45”, and an optional ambidextrous charging handle. The MZ-47 is available also in a semi-automatic version.

The MZ-4P with Piston Operation System is a 5.56X45mm automatic weapon compatible with NATO ammunition and all other variations of 5.56X45mm ammunition and magazines, and is available in two barrel lengths – 11.5" and 14.5".

Both lengths feature upper and lower case aluminum 7075 T6 material and an advanced Piston Operation System which delivers a consistent rate of fire while eliminating gas exiting at the rear of the rifle, even when using a suppressor. The rifle is also easy to disassemble and clean by any soldier on the combat field.

The MZ-300 is a 7.62x35mm caliber, .300AAC Blackout automatic weapon available with optional barrel lengths of 9”, 11.5”, and 14.5”. It utilizes 5.56x45mm standard bolts and magazines without any alterations, and is an ideal solution for automatic and semi-automatic firing with short barrels and suppressors.

The MZ-300 delivers greater terminal ballistics effects such as stopping power and reduced penetration, with an option of automatic firing with suppressors.

“We invest a great deal in the development of new products, due to the high demand from the market,” continued Mr. Pollak. “We chose to launch these three weapons in Thailand since we are aware of the need of the local and regional markets for the type of solutions we offer. The Thai market is very important to us. We have longstanding ties with Thai forces, which have adopted quite a few of our products and are very satisfied with them. We highly appreciate this cooperation, and are working towards its continuation.”

If India uses brain Israel alone can fulfill entire India's demands for small arms but it seem your leaders are hell bent on giving failed weapon systems to your soldiers

This splitting the requirement is one of the most harebrained idea I have ever come across. Jeez IA must be a special kind of stupid if it can still come up with such 'ideas' after the multi caliber disaster. I mean JFC! two different calibers! wow! I find it astounding that ever after all this the IA has not decided what caliber it needs. Proper thick donkeys.

    Nope.

    Two different categories

    Carbines and assault rifles.

    Hardly much of a difference

Now, army chief General Bipin Rawat has decided to buy only 250,000 assault rifles from the international market, and issue them only to combat infantrymen – the frontline foot soldiers who are directly in contact with the enemy.

The remaining 550,000 army soldiers who are authorised rifles but serve mainly in non-infantry arms and services will get a new indigenous rifle. The army will choose between the INSAS-1C, designed by the Defence R&D Organisation (DRDO); and the Ghatak, designed by Ordnance Factory, Kirkee. These are less lethal than the infantry’s assault rifles, but also significantly cheaper, at about Rs 50,000 apiece.

“My thinking is: Since a state-of-the-art assault rifle will cost about Rs 200,000 each in the global market, let us issue these only to frontline infantry soldiers who confront the enemy armed only with their rifles,” Rawat told Business Standard. “Let us provide a cheaper indigenous option to other soldiers, for whom the rifle is not a primary weapon,” he added.

Either you have misunderstood mine and the opening post or you have chosen to not understand it.

So IF i understand the gen correctly he is saying
    • Imported rifles for front line infantry. - NOT assault rifles. Anything with a 7.62x51 is most likely a battle rifle (assuming that's what the IA is looking to import since that's what they have been asking). Also if he is NOT looking to import a 7.62x51 why do we need to import at all (lets leave this for now)
    • Provide the remaining 5.5 lakh troops with either INSAS 1C or Ghatak, which are 5.56x45 and 7.62x39 respectively
    MY F GAWD!

So he is saying the IA can end up with

    a) 7.62x51 (imported) + 5.56x45 (INSAS)

    or

    b) 7.62x51 (imported) + 7.62x39 (ghatak)!!

LMAO!! I mean WTH! We are yet to master logistics and related issues with 1 rifle and he is looking at two different caliber rifles!!

If you ask me this whole 7.62x51 thing is crap. Yeah I know Kargil happened but to continuously cite that as a reason to choose 7.61x51 is myopic. IMO we need to stick with an intermediate cartridge like the ROW and instead go 'full length and carbine' for various needs. Even if we DO want two different rifles let us at-least stick to one calibre!

Personally I think 7.62x39 is a way to go. Be it assault rifle or carbine it is the cheaper and arguable more effective platform and will even sync with the mostly AK based CI ops and other paramilitary forces. This will also help us in manufacturing and mastering our own 7.62x39 ammo.

Make in India so anything you have started to make in India right now ?????????? Let me tell only Israeli Rifles which your country is not adopting although producing Rifles being offered by various Israeli companies are alone enough to fulfill your Armed Forces and Para Military and Police needs but your dumb system is making sure even during next major attack your Police is hardly prepared to fight back and the moment your main forces will respond few hundred will be dead by than

Indian army will not do mistake of indigenous junk again

Kargil war proved too costly for that

INSAS is better for traffic and state police
