New Delhi: Number of Indians working in Saudi Arabia witnessed marginal decrease since 2014 and subsequently increased the workers from Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The following table which was published in Janta ka Reporter shows how the scenario of migrants workers in Saudi Arabia changes.

The government data clearly shows this fall in number of migrant workers who go to Saudi Arabia for jobs in different fields.

In 2013, there were 55% (3,53,565) Indians who went on job visa to Saudi Arabia whereas in 2016 only 21% (1,65,356) could move there for jobs.

In 2013, there were only 2% (12,654) Bangladeshis who got employment in the Gulf country but in 2016 their number rose to 19% (1,43,913).

While in 2013 the number of Pakistanis who got employment in Saudi Arabia were43% ( 6,36,721), this number increased to 60% (7,71,867) in 2016.

the employment growth has seriously lagged behind which has been admitted in the Rajya Sabha by Rao Inderjit Singh, the Minister of State for Planning.

India is spending $330 million a day on imported oil and gas. Does India deserve this racism ?

Is OIC(Organization of Islamic countries) trying to increase unemployement in India. To mount pressure on Modi government. The blame will fall on BJP government.

This may partially be related to how India has been squeezing KSA on treatment of employees since Modi came to power. So KSA employers are probably choosing non-Indians because they know KSA can arm twist BD and Pak.

I think India should get into an agreement for free movement of labour in exchange for oil deals with the Middle East.

Yeah everything is a global conspiracy. :scare:

Modi should be worried about employment creation in India not overseas. Their country their rules.

+ Indians getting less employment under labour category in middle east is politically good for India, even if there are some short term economic costs.

Oil money is going to dry out in a decade time anyway. It will ease the pain.

Country near Venuezula, Guyana is 60% Indian origin... and Venuezula is pro-Indian...

Our money will go to a region which will be future asset to India.

We can buy sugar cane ethanol from Guyana and Suriname. They have very large Indian populations... And we should send oil companies to Guyana and Suriname for exploration.

India is sitting on 1894 trillion cubic meters of methane hydrates, 1m³ of hydrate contain 164m³ of natural gas

    •India NG consumption = 50.6 Billion m³/year

•India methane gas reserve's at current level of consumption will last =61,38,656 years at 100% recoverable rate & 30,69,328 years at 50% recoverable rate.

Chinese & Japanese have already made a breakthrough in extraction ,time for us to follow & get the technology.

This is the data for new workers and not overall workers. KSA is not as lucrative as in the past with issues with the payments and living conditions being at the top forefront.

Indians are looking more towards kuwait and Qatar for the indian investments their including the Olympics and its surrounding infrastructure.

Indian workers was mostly in shops ,malls etc while construction labourers are mainly from Pakistan and BD .
KSA has introduced Nitaqat in malls ,shops etc and directly affected Indians .

At the end their country ,their rules .
If they tries for smart game we will simply diverse the oil import

Diverting oil supply will have an impact on foreign reserve's & will increase India trade deficit further , Saudi Arabia is one of the major source of remittances to India...Where will we divert labour to, there are enough Indians already working in other Gulf countries.

    Umm, NO.

Venezuela, Russia, and Iran would love to fill in any scaling down of Saudi Oil. If you remember, Saudis have promised that they would make up for any shortfall that would arise due to India abiding by US sanctions on Iran. Iran would do same if we scale back any of Saudi Oil. Similarly, in labour; If Saudi kick out Indian labourers, Qatar would absorb a portion of that labour after kicking out labour from pro-KSA countries.

Middle easterners hate each other, and this is the reason why no one among them would pick up a fight with India, as it would give other a chance to cash on it.

+ There is overcapacity in crude oil sector atm.

Any alternative energy source would do.
