No, India thinks it does us a favor by buying Rafale, but we think we do a favor to the countries that buy us Rafale and it can only be very friendly countries. :india::France:

Not really, Safran only followed the offset rules we set up and if Dassault did that too, we already would have seen more Rafales on order. But it also shows that France is not = Dassault and that there are French companies that we can work with. So let's see what Safran thinks about that idea and what the Sukhoi might have to say, because that are the only players that are important in this case.

In the short term I am more interested in getting Kaveri ready for Mig 29K, which is more important for now.

Order of new rafale will be in 2019. And Thales, Dassault, SAFRAN are doing exactly what the French government say them to do, no more no less.

Fanboyism at the best. By the time India would be able to reach the required thrust, Sukhoi would be retired from the Indian airforce service. Development of the turbofan engine is a Risky affair and involved billions. GTRE should target the Civilian Aviation for home aviation requirement, and NAL should be absorbed by the HAL, and scrapped the SARAS project and start a new project immediately, to capture the huge civil market in the country .

@randomradio Can you see how we are discussing the B.S , and now adding my own B.S

    1. For the Kaveri Engine, we need some of the Critical technology to be developed first, namely Single Crystal Blade Technology, Thermal Barrier Coating, Super Alloys and stop living in the Dreams that some one is going to give you, be it Snerma, GE or Russians.

    2. We lack the manufacturing capability, and a good example in Kaveri is its Blisk, when designed by the GTRE and contacted German MTU for its manufacturing, denied due to complexity, and when GTRE again designed it and make it simpler the MTU denied again, reason the quantity not upto the the commercial level. So what we have a Suboptimal design of Blisk Blade, because that was the possible to be manufactured by our MITHANI. And GTRE folks getting the criticism of slow development, and not taking the help of others. Moral of the story, as far as the technology related to the material and manufacturing ability is concerned we are of our own. Deal with it.

    3. Someone should look at the Chinese, a country in sanctions and in disadvantage as compare to India with the level of the access to the labs around the world, how they increased the level of manufacturing ability, slowly and steadily with dual use technologies of precision manufacturing capabilities disguised from the Japanese companies, and CNC machines, and now are selling the CNC and manufacturing machines in the international market. Question should be asked, why there was no such strategic thinking by our leaders, why TATA, which have inhouse research group for the material and metallic alloys was never contacted and depends on the Kerela based PSUs for the supply and PSU's lab research houses.

    4. What could GTRE could do, when they couldn't have the right material, and lack of the complex manufacturing design manufacturing is not available in the country when the product is going to compared with the products of the giants like GE, Euro Gmbh, Snerma and should be comparable in the wt, thrust, reliability, smokeless, cost or better then that with first attempt.

    5. Last but not the least, loving the discussion is going. Lage raho Mamoo log.

Kaveri on Su-30 from day one is completely unrealistic.

It's possible if they plan on adding it to the second phase of the upgrades after the first 50-80 jets are upgraded.

I think what they are proposing is preliminary concept and local MIC input for the Single Engine Mig 35 that Russia is proposing for our FW base as a SE fighter...

The higher thrust engine under plan is originally for AMCA and now being said that side use includes MKi and Mig35.

As of now the first plan is getting Safranised Kaveri successfully integrated into LCA Mk1A.

    Rest all comes after that...
