How did Gill tackle terrorism in Punjab. He had seen that pursuations and political patchworks were not helping. He took leadership of a demoralised police in total disarry with not training in anti terror battle. He spent 2 years on training and morale boosting. He took CRPF security guards and was frequently taunting the police about it. See, I your DGP cannot depend on you for my personal security, what will common man feel? But after a suitable time period he swichtd over to Punjab Armed Police for security.

Legal ways were futile, with no witnesses coming and judiciary too demoralised and more keen to give bail than remands. Encounters posed risks of cold blooded murder charges. So they too were given up. Emphasis was on vigorous patrols and vigilance. Anyone found moving on a vehicle after sun set was interrogated on the spot.

No encounters, yet the terrorists were disappearing. By and by the problem was over.

KPS Gill was certainly an Innovative Officer
we need more people like him,
who do not hesitate to take the initiative in their own hands.

Who else chipped in? Without Gill's determination even Beant Singh was impotent. Please list the others in your mind.

    Which other reasons?

    **
Gill went about his mission with determination and single agenda: Finish terrorism at any cost.

Gill said that there are no misguided youths, nor unemployed. In fact the youth were well off. He believed that if you beat to pulp the buttoks of such "misguided" ones, even their mothers come running.

He was brutal. Without official encounters the terrorists disappeared from the scene. One such was in my village and he held court, extracted money, gave judgement on "cases". One fine morning he was found absent from his dera, never to be seen again. Any village suspected of harbouring terrorists was just surrounded, no entry, no exit please. No firing, no house to house searches and in days the terrorists were out of the village, never to be seen again.

yes the best thing an officer can do is remembering his duty and forget those leaders who are eating nation and drinking its blood.

If he had not done that bullet for a bullet strategy must had 100 of terrorist in punjab jail complaining about poor quality of biryani like KASAB:flame: Presidents coming and going but no one dar eto give permission to hang those culprits waiting to be hanged .

All these expired politians on becoming president think of pensions and his safety more then of country so better is give free hand to officer to eliminate enemy of country instead of catching and feeding them sotime some innocent also get caught in work pressure but still its best possible way
