I too went through the report and even though i found some interesting stuff i couldn't find anything that would prove that Airbus is fooling ADA.

Please throw some light on this.

Pls read the section where ADA document states the problems faced by NLCA and the response they got from Airbus and time taken to respond.

True, that's why I hope / hoped for 500lb Sudarshan LGBs and Helina missiles. Would be a more cost-effective mix and could be produced and upgraded on our own.
That's actually the most important point of being self reliant, to be able to build the baseline stuff alone (LCA, LGB, ATGM, Astra), while we always can choose foreign techs or partners for the high end parts. Sadly we often aim too high

What's the status of Sudarshan btw?

Although it looks great, the use of dumb bombs is outdated. A lesson we learned in Kargil.

We failed to make a mach4 interceptor missile. And No, S-400 is good but like any systems-nothing is foolproof.

SAAW on MERs, Garuthma/Garuda Glide Bombs, Sudarshan LGB kits are the way to go. IAF needs to stop pussy footing and order 100K units of these types of bombs. These bombs should have different types of warheads from ICL-20 HE for max shiver effect, along side incendiary, fragmentation, fuel air explosive, thermobaric etc.

The IAF is not quite satisfied with its accuracy. The claim was the it would have a CEP of single digits , but it has not quite achieved that. And the second problem was that the bomb was producing too much drag, much more than needed , which was reducing its effective range by around ~2-3 kilometers in the test.

IAF had asked for another small batch production with improvements in these areas.

Airbus has full knowledge of these issues and it should not take them any time to resolve them plus they shud be proactive as consultants and point out problems before they are encountered. They are being very passive consultants.

unless we know exactly what those issues were, it is difficult to say someone has "full knowledge of the issues". sometimes it is possible that ADA uncovered something specific to our needs that airbus never knew. Also, it is in the consultants best interest to term any issue as a "complex" issue and get more money for it. thats just the way the world works - which is why we need to try and indigenize any thing we can - even if it is the smallest sub system

    from the ADA Annual report:

    GE - F404 - F2J3 Engine is powering Tejas (TD1, TD2, PV1 to PV3, PV5 & LSP1). Upgraded GE - F404 - IN20 Engine is powering Tejas (PV6, LSP2 to LSP8). Flight tests with upgraded GE - F404 - IN20 Engine integrated on Tejas (PV6, LSP2, LSP3, LSP4, LSP5, LSP7 & LSP8) are satisfactory

on the ratings of the engines:
The F404-IN-20 engine has generated more than 19,000 pounds (85 kN) uninstalled thrust and has completed 330 hours of Accelerated Mission testing, which is the equivalent of 1,000 hours of flight operation. The F404-GE-IN20 succeeds F404-F2J3 development engines used for nearly 600 flights, cumulatively covering eight engines.Based on the F404-GE-402, the F404-GE-IN20 is the highest rated F404 model and includes a higher-flow fan, increased thrust, a Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) system, single-crystal turbine blades and a variety of single-engine features.

    more:
Tejas (PV3): Total 387 flight tests (228 Hrs: 7.0 Mins) have been completed. The aircraft has flown with upgraded Flight Control System (FCS) and Avionics System software for carriage of external Stores including Drop tank. The aircraft has completed all test points envisaged for it. GSH 23mm Gun Integration on aircraft has been completed and Butt-Firing (Phase-1) completed. Presently, indigenous OBOGS / ILSS integration on Tejas (PV3) is in progress.

In an area without air defence or enemy fighters and manly to destroy larger areas.
We don't have these luxurious, we have credible enemies to fight.
