LCA Tejas Multirole Aircraft

    We needed LCA MK 1 A Yesterday

    And we will get it in 2020

    @PARIKRAMA any progress on LCA MK1-A, Can we expect the first flight in 2018?

    And the problem is, with HAL at helm, we didn't had MK1 FOC in 2014 and we won't have MK1A for at least 5 more years.

    We haven't even got FOC for MK1.

    As per saurav jha ..ADA is no longer working on LCA Tejas MK2 & LCA is in HAL's domain now...
    They seem to be freeing up ADA for AMCA and Ghatak.. fate of LCA Navy is even worse.

    This feels like it's for the better...we should end it with MK1a and focus on AMCA.

    but according to saurav jha AMCA hasn't been officially sanctioned yet

    Nothing surprising there. Mk2 was a dead end the minute Mk1A came into existence.

    Mk1A is basically what the LCA should always have been. That's also why it's special.

    Doesn't matter. There's a lot of stuff happening on that front. About 5000 scientists and technicians are preparing to get to work on it.

    Project Ghatak has already started.

    Lot of stuff happening at Challakere.

    Now if MK 2 is cancelled this clears the way for SE deal again

    Is it possible that we merge FGFA and AMCA and call them FG-MCA

    Without signing PAK FA deals we can do nothing about FGFA and AMCA

    AMCA is on 3 year pre development studies. Only after that it will get full development sanction.

    We don't have a MK1 FOC aircraft till now, and you say about MK1A.

    The greatest success of HAL would be to deliver all the 123 aircraft.

    For after that, not one more will be ordered.

    LCA MK1 had many shortfalls, due to development delay and failures.
    => That's why IAF requested the MK2 for further orders.
    => Since HAL can't leave the production without work after the 40 MK1s are deliveried, the government came up with a compromise.
    => LCA MK1A, which includes many of the upgrades of the MK2, but without the main engine upgrade, to deal with the lack of power.
    => So an MK2 after the production of MK1A, is aimed to finally fix all the problems of Tejas and has no relation to the SE tender.

    FGFA and AMCA has also no relation to each other, since just as LCA and SE, they are meant for different operational capabilities and requirements of the IAF.

    Hey Sancho, Any news on AMCA ? Is it still a paper plane?? Is the design in place? When do you think we can see a prototype?
