IAF not unhappy with Tejas: Scientists

    http://www.defencenews.in/article/IAF-not-unhappy-with-Tejas-Scientists-454782

Senior scientists of Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) on Tuesday said IAF isn't unhappy with the performance of Tejas but wants more variety. There were reports a few days ago of IAF brass pushing for imports rather than settling for advanced versions of Tejas.

"The Tejas is a light aircraft that has limitations of carrying capacity and endurance. But it has achieved its role as the best aircraft in its class. It has also successfully fired the latest beyond visual range (BVR) missiles. The IAF wants more variety. All the aircraft in its inventory can't be light. The IAF requires all kinds and that doesn't mean it isn't satisfied with the performance of Tejas," said ADA director Girish S Deodhare.

"The Tejas is a state-of-the-art platform while F-16s are of 1970 vintage. Several countries in West Asia have also expressed interest in in Tejas," another senior official said.

    Unnamed BS reports every day.

You need validation from your masters here again? Are you incapable of judging yourself ?

Actually we have to focus on offensive today, more than ever before, because we can't play it defensive anymore. Out enemies have stacked up capabilities in attack and surveillance, that gives them big advantages. To gain superiority again, offence then is the best defence. Taking out as many air bases and stopping their fighters to take off, is the key, not intercepting them.

That doesn't matter, because the quoted part of the ADA official is the important one, since it confirms that the media hyped up a non issue between LCA and IAF.

'BRAHMOS LIGHT' CRUISE MISSILE FOR LCA TEJAS TO BE READY IN 2019
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2017 BY INDIANDEFENSE NEWS

A light version of India's Supersonic BrahMos cruise missile will likely be ready by 2019, a senior defense official said.
The official told Times Now that 'BRAHMOS Light' is "currently in the design stage, though initial consultations have been held". The missile can be fired from the Tejas, the indigenously made Light Combat Aircraft that the Indian Air Force is acquiring.

The new version of the BrahMos will be smaller and with roughly the same range: 300 km, but it will be faster at roughly Mach 3.5. That means that larger combat aircraft like the Su-30MKI would be able to carry three rather than just one of the new weapon during a sortie. Even an aircraft like the MiG-35 might be able to carry more than one weapon at a time potentially.

The BrahMos supersonic cruise missile is the product of Russia’s Machine-Building Research and Development Consortium and India’s Defense Research and Development Organization, which set up BrahMos Aerospace joint venture in 1998. The missile’s name comes from the names of two rivers: the Indian Brahmaputra of and the Russian Moscow river. The missile has a range of 290 km and carries a warhead weighing from 200 to 300 kg.

Now read again my earlier comment, what I said about brahmos in relation to FGFA, Tejas & Mig35 & its size - this further substantiates my earlier assertions.
For LCA Bashers, get used to the idea of Tejas & Brahmos, spoken in same sentence more frequently with the coming passage of time. CHEERS

congratulations sir, hope they (Un-named souces) picked your idea
I'm waiting for mk1/mk1a + BrahMos combo :coffee:

It clearly means that the whole stuff is about BrahMos-NG

Let me clear your doubts about dimensions with Named source

    Now, we have all measurements:
    length- 6m
    Dia- 0.5m
    Weight- 1600kgs

Again, it is already more for LCA mk1/mk1a but if mk2 will be modified with relocated and strengthen centerline pylon than there maybe some chances. even than it will not be technologically feasible for IAF ops.
