M-88 max outs at 10 ton while EJ-200 can go upto 12 ton. Plus EJ-200 is already a proven design with lead engine having over 1700hrs on wing.

So forum member vstol jockey is the designer of 'LSA'. It will be superior to F-22 w.r.t to kinematics. Have a biggger weapons bay than JSF. Have better range than MKI. Would take about the same time from decision to induction as a WW2 fighter and its development costs about the same as the price of 1 Rafale. Yup totally legit.

I know it is hard to believe but LSA is not a new design. It is an adaptation of an existing aircraft and uses off-the-shelf technology. That compresses the time period for its development and reduces the cost. My aim is not to create a very high tech ac like F-22 but aim is to create an ac which can arrive stealthily at a point in space from where it can use its electro-optics and WVRAAMs to prosecute a target.
The battles between a 4th gen and 4th gen fighters will be at BVR while the battles between 4th gen and 5th gen will be at the boundary of BVR/WVR as the 5th gen fighter would like to deny an advance warning of an incoming shot to its target. The battle between 5th gen and 5th gen fighters will be WVR only.
I know that my battle scenario is different from USAF who see BVR as the future. but I maintain my position on future air combat. Infact I foresee return to guns only fight once DIRCM is installed on fighters and lasers evolve to be primary weapons.

WoW, someone on this thread that actually inhabits the real world. When you look at the cost/development/time it takes to design and build a new aircraft the cost is exhorbitant, and that is why nations nowadays tend to colaborate on such things. Only or two countries in the world could afford to fund such a programme and take it to it's conclusion on their own. India is certainly not one of them. Which indigenious Indian defence programme that has been carried out to date without the help of another country. This one is supposed to be in conjunction with Israel, a country which relies completely on the USA to provide it's defence equipment at rock bottom prices due to the Zionist lobby in the US.

This is a nationalist fantasy which has been going on for a number of years now, without any real basis in fact. All we have are the views of the so called designer, who frankly seems to live in a world of his own. Comparing this 'flying sausage' to the best that huge design teams worldwide can produce.

The sad thing is that the people on here cannot see beyond their noses, and are so hypnotised by the vision of Indian nationalism that rules the whole Asia/Pacific region with the next few decades, that logic fly's out of the window.

If this person who claims to be the designer of this wonder aircraft, achieves one percent of what he claims, Then I will doff by hat to him. That is not going to happen.

Pls do remember the last line of your post. You will have to eat your words very soon. LCA development cost for first three prototypes was only INR 2k and till the completion of phase-3, about a billion USD had been spent. The largest cost factor was the development of new tech and many of them have still not been realised and a very long development time. In case of LSA, there will no delays as a very large number of tech developed for LCA will go into LSA. By the time the first LSA prototype flies, LCA MK1A with GaN AESA and Indian Astra Mk-2 will be fully operational.

You're gonna be eating your hat too.

Anyway, FGFA, AMCA and IUSAV are the next new projects India will be undertaking.

The way forward for India is LCA-LSA-AMCA-FGFA. no more 4th gen ac for India.

There is no new development in the LSA. He is using off the shelf technologies that have already been developed for the LCA program. So Vstol is basically putting all of that tech into a new airframe that doesn't use FBW and have it certified for production quickly. LSA can eventually leech off of the FGFA and AMCA programs too. So while DRDO will be developing new engines and avionics for these jets, LSA will tap into the already developed avionics and market them.

The huge design teams everywhere else don't do what Vstol is doing, they run an entirely new program for engines, avionics etc.

So if FGFA is introduced in 2022 with new technologies, Vstol will use the same tech and introduce a LSA Mk2 by 2028 with those technologies. Then after AMCA develops new tech by 2030, Vstol will make a LSA Mk3 and have it marketed with the same tech in 2035. And so on. With such a short development cycle, the IAF may insist on making new hardware for the LSA simultaneously with FGFA and AMCA because India can absorb the volumes.

It's no different from the smartphone industry. Large companies make flagship models and make millions of units. Once costs are reduced through economies of scale, smaller companies use that same hardware and introduce a similar phone in the market at 5 times lower price 2 years later. The advantage here is, while smartphones become obsolete every 2 years, aircraft technologies have a much longer period for obsolescence, so the LSA will remain relevant for a pretty long time.

The Indian MoD will pay for the development and introduction of the EL/M 2052 radar for the Jaguar and LCA. By the time the LSA enters serial production, you can expect the Israelis to have already manufactured 100+ radars. So the LSA is leeching off of the LCA's development. Similarly, the LSA will leech off Rolls by introducing a proven engine like the EJ230.

To be fair to the Israelis though, they did have an aero industry worth more than a used piece of toilet paper and with Uncle Sam's blessing were en route to having an absolutely super fighter....................and then the blessings ran out.
Don't know how much knowledge they still got with them.

Yeah, if your aircraft works out, it will kill the aircraft import market. Save India a huge amount of forex, maybe even increase forex through exports.

It's a big deal if Israel is our first export customer for this jet.

You got it right bang on. Infact the Power-by-wire FCS architecture is same as FBW and for a stable ac it is FBW in direct law. LSA will use fuel transfer and fuel burn off to maintain a stability margin of just 7% and once we develop full FBW for it, with just an introduction of FBW computer in the FCS, LSA will become FBW. I will then shift the CG back by adding fuel in the rudders which will be dry till the FBW is introduced.

They don't want the repeat of LAVI and that's why they want to make this ac in India as an Indian product with assistance from them.
