Glad to see you back Vstol, do you by chance have any info on the GTFE-40 engines you mentioned on the last page?

Banking on any engine that is not battle proven will induce a delay if at all this project goes through.

My info is based on news reports only. And all those have been posted here on HTFE-25 thread.

Yes and even if the engine is delivered on time, using them for prototype will be suicidal. I will go with Honeywell F125X for prototypes unless HAL is able to flight test the engines in Jaguar aircraft.

There seems to be no information on the F125x engine . How far has it moved in terms of a prototype ?

No, it is 100% Indian design and a private venture of HAL thru its own funds.

Yes, After many delibrations and chats with some guys in IN, decided to go for twin engine configuration with Honeywell F125X 36/54KN engines to be replaced by HTFE-40 40/64KN engines in final production models.

This is how it looks from the rear. I have space to have a completely housed tail hook at the bottom of the fuselage between the two engines. The engines will be lowered further to create more space for fuel tanks above them and shift the CG to give a stability margin of 2-3% only. Wingtip sensor pods provide far superior interference free 360* coverage with less number of sensors. The missile rails will be below the sensor pods to carry one missile each of up to 120Kgs.
