Why 12 months? Isn't Ej 230 a working engine? Is there any India specific change is required?

I stated 12 months bcoz of press reports about this time frame. EJ-230 is a nearly complete engine but the engine being developed in India with RR support might be a completely new engine based on EJ-200.

Imagine a Tejas Mk1 with 8% Aerodynamic Improvement, weight around 6 tons and powered by EJ 230 with dry thrust 72 KN and wet thrust 108 KN. It shall be a winner and easily outclass any plane in the world of its class.

    What is this?

I think it is Ej 230.

    Sir,

Your problem is solved. You may now not have to wait for HTFE 40 any more. You can do with EJ 230 as planned for LSA.

Did India just dumped United States and Signed up Eurojet EJ200 for AMCA with U.K?
    Published April 14, 2017
SOURCE: VISHAL KARPE / FOR MY TAKE / IDRW.ORG

U.K. Secretary of State for Defence Sir Michael Fallon literally dropped a bomb when he said that India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and British Aerospace engine major Rolls-Royce are collaborating in co-development of a new gas turbine engine.

Fallon just fell short of naming the engine which he was referring to but added that gas turbine engine in development will be highest thrust gas turbine engine developed by the company.

Fallon also confirmed that the technology demonstrator of the co-developed engine will be ready in 12 months. idrw.org in an article posted (Trump Effect: Indo-US Joint defence collaboration in jet engines technology on Back Burner ?? ) few days back had hinted at discord and lack of any positive movement on proposed Indo-US collaboration on developing an uprated engine based on General Electric Aviation developed F-414 jet engines under Trump Administration.

EuroJet Turbo Company who at Aero India 2017 had confirmed to idrw.org that they are still willing to offer Eurojet EJ200 engine for AMCA just clinched the deal? EuroJet Turbo GmbH had offered to co-develop EJ2x0 which has potential to generate 30% more power compared to the original EJ200 with a reheated output of around 120 kN from current 90kN developed by Eurojet EJ200 engine.

AMCA India’s proposed 5th Generation Multi-role fighter jet has engine thrust requirements of 110kN. India’s shelved Kaveri project is being revived with help from Safran of France, which might power LCA-Tejas MK1A fighter in the future. Just to add a word of caution Indian media or DRDO is yet to confirm if India and UK are actually co-developing EJ2x0 engines for AMCA, we will have to wait to get official confirmation or clarity.

Above techs are the top three of my priorities. UAV, metallurgy amongst others are too on the radar.

True, that's why proposals around that engine needs to be approved from all parts, but that won't be an issue, since they all would gain from exports or funding for the engine. But wait if the news is about that engine in the first place.

Donno about better costs, but if we had gone with the EF and jointly developed the AESA with them, we now might gain from their electronic attack developments, since we would had been partners and not just export customers and that is a crucial difference for any imported defence techs!

    From wiki:
    EJ2x0
    Stage 1:

    • The EJ2x0 with 20% growth compared to the original EJ200. The EJ2x0 engine will have dry thrust increasing to some 72 kN (or 16,200 lbf) with a reheated output of around 103 kN (or 23,100 lbf).[12]
    Stage 2:

    • The new engine plan to increase the output 30% more power compared to the original EJ200. The engine will have dry thrust of around 78 kN (or 17,500 lbf) with a reheated output of around 120 kN (or 27,000 lbf)
    http://www.thehindu.com/news/nation...rate-on-engine-technology/article17993132.ece

“The next step is to have a technology demonstrator in 12 months,” said Stephen Phipson, Head of Defence and Security Organisation which he said would be the “highest thrust gas turbine engine.”

I think they are offering EJ2x0 stage 2 engine

Remember the additional orders of BAE HAWKs? For Surya Kiran ?

They are on a back burner now , because of a possible graft against RR.
