ok i will tell you why..
the dooms day machines are ready and deployed..The Heavy weights Shaheen and Ghauri-2..those are for MAD.

Now they are working on "Deterrents" and "show stoppers" which may not lead to a total destruction...

On topic...Mars has been explored by other more sophisticated nations, and indian mission wont reveal anything new...
but may be good for enhancing indian expertise...Although i cant think of any practical use of these "expertise"

I even dint think by launching NASR, you going to build the launch vehicle.

It may be good for pakistani expertise...but is the pakistani expertise matters when you people just assembling the things from China.

:unsure::unsure:How can you guarantee that it won't find anything new:facepalm::undecided::undecided::undecided:

See, In space exploration nothing has been completley explored. For example it was reported that the Mini-RF (US made) on board the ISRO's Chandrayaan-1 had discovered more than 40 permanently darkened craters near the Moon's north pole which are hypothesized to contain an estimated 600 million metric tonnes (1.3 trillion pounds) of water ice.

LOL Pakistani losers. We do missions for pride reasons. And it's a very cheap mission.

This mission proves to the world that Indian satellites are capable of interplanetary travel. This will boost
our morale & appeal to international contracts - now more foreign countries will be willing to select the
PSLV launch vehicle for their missions, which in turn means more money for India.

Lowly beings like you can never understand anything except nuclear this, nuclear that. Taking what China
gives you and thinking you are king of the world, you frogs in the well!

While Indian astronauts will be landing on Mars to set up a base there, you will still be testing your 60-km
NASR and launching US-built micro-mini satellites onboard Chinese Long March rockets and declaring
that you are ahead of India in everything.

That much money is not even peanuts to the scale of Indian economy, We burn more than ten times of cost of Mars mission on fire crackers on one day of Diwali that is about Rs. 5000 Crores, Mars mission was just Rs. 450 Crores, And worth less Rs. 100s of Crores flop movies in Bollywood, even they are worth more annually than this Mars mission  .

The mission is more of a technology demonstration mission (80%) and less scientific (20%). The sole purpose is to be able to have develop a technology that can be available as a reliable one and can be bettered, when if in future we require it for research purpose we will have something to work with.

The west, especially the Brits hate to see south Asians prosper, be it even the Chinese, to the west we are nothing but a third world country. The thing is the point is that money was not sent to the Mars it was spent here in inida and will remain in our economy and in a part was benefit the Indian Scientific community. Our R&D expense is so low that its almost pathetic, and for ISRO to come up with such a mission is just ... very inspirational to say the least.

The real out come is not that weather we will able to detect life on mars, if we are able to inject into an orbit around the red planet the mission will be success only then. This mission can serve as an inspiration to millions of kids towards science and research, even if a few thousand of them turn into real scientists the return of this missions objective will be achieved. Its less pride and more inspiration, less science and more motivation to our kids here.

And to inspire a generation at Rs.450 Crores, its a steal..!!

Yes, it would be nice of you to think of these "expertise" that can be used in a non-war scenario, like in trajectory changing of satellites. Making and improving our equipments and technology in weather and resource finding, telecommunication.

    5) Aids Military Operations

And the Most Important of All,
you guys better remember this always

    Let me tell you Why

    1. Lets talk about the money part first

Even our Bollywood talks of Films with ticket collections of Rs 100 crores in first week
And overall Business of more than 500 crores
Krish 3 has grossed more than 250 Crores on Box Office - add to it the Overseas rights + music rights + sat rights etc it will easily gross more than 500 crores
A single Bollywood film and we are having more than 3-4 films individually grossing more than 100 crores every year

    2. This is india's first interplanetary mission - so no point in taking bigger risks - small payload small amount keeps the risks low and if successful it validates our Technology, capabilities, assumptions, Calculations and logic's and opens up doors for varied and more interplanetary missions

    3. You should learn more about the way india has structured the mission - while normally heavier rockets are used to send the payload directly on the intended planets, India has decided to use the earths gravity to power the craft towards mars thus reducing the costs.

    4. To say we will not learn anything new - may be right / may be wrong, only time can tell - the same was said about the indias chanrayan - moon probe mission. Though all studies till that time indicated the absence of water - the indian mission discovered the possibility of water in ice form on moon - so you never really know

    5. Already a series Sun probe / Sun mission (Aditya 1) is being planned, and if this mission goes ok through the end in next September 2014, maybe in the next six months thence these missions will also be launched
the expertise of using Gravitational pull from planetary bodies will allow to keep the costs low for future missions

I hope you have considered the exchange rate differential

Otherwise it will be more than 1.5%
