We need to import fighters, because we can't develop them on our own, be it MMRCAs, or 5th gen fighters.

The contract is very small compare to the F-16 one, it's peanuts I suppose obsolescences and perhaps AASM adaptation for Yemen war.

    This might give some hints:

New technologies could be the Talios pod, or capabilities the M2K-9s might not had so far.

This deal was also made, but not sure if it has a relation to the Mirage:

Adding more basic strike capabilites, next to Al Tariq PGM and Black Shaheen cruise missile would make sense.

    Al Tariq isn't a old weapon ?
Integrating AASM or... SDB or ... Brimstone would be a nice idea.

I think you mean the Hakim PGM:

Al Tarik is a South African PGM, the UAE took over, as their AASM/JDAM counterpart and it was added only a few years ago:

Just as AASM it has 3 different seekers and different weight classes, the difference is, that it uses a wing kit and an optional rocket propulsion, to extend range. So UAE don't need more PGMs, while basic cassette might require more LGBs => GBU12 and 10

    1) I was using the "AL TARIQ" used on the previous post.
    It's not the same weapon.

One of them is quite old if I remember well (already fitted on the first gen UAE mirage 2000).

    2) on your pic, what is the other pod front left of the central body ?

Hakim is the older weapon and it was used in the Lybian conflict, with the Damocles pod, not sure what the other pod in the picture is.
