Article on Calgary Muslim website defends female genital mutilation, blames Jews for FGM's bad reputation

An article titled “Female Circumcision in Islam” posted on the Muslims in Calgary website praises female genital mutilation and even goes as far as blaming Jews negative views on the barbaric act.

Asiff Hussein explained how at a workshop held by an international Muslim women’s rights organization he was expected to rip apart a fatwa that declared FGM mandatory. Instead he told the moderator he saw nothing wrong with it “since all they said that was required was to remove the prepuce or the skin covering the clitoris, a relatively minor and harmless procedure very much like male circumcision which like it might confer some health benefits as well.”

“That raised a few eyebrows, probably because none of them had heard such a novel idea before,” he added before proceeding to blame the negative reputation of FGM on Jews:

“Of course there’s really nothing so novel about it. Much has been written about it even by Western Doctors but these studies have been conveniently overlooked to conform to Islamophobic sentiments expressed by a largely Jewish controlled media.”

“It is in the interests of the Jews to criticize female circumcision while promoting male circumcision. Why, because male circumcision is a Jewish practice and female circumcision is not,” he added in another paragraph.

“To keep a long story short, it is in the interests of the Jews to hide the facts about the benefits of female circumcision,” he says in yet another paragraph.

It's worth noting that Israel or “Zionism” is not mentioned anywhere in the article. Often times we will see Jew scapegoating disguised as protests against Israel. Nothing like that here.
