On the day a Delhi court convicted suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) member Shahzad Ahmad in the Batla House encounter, Minority Affairs Minister K Rehman Khan said the Muslim community in general did not believe in the existence of the outfit. He, however, added that he was only reflecting a "feeling" among the community.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Khan said: "Unlike other organisations, the Muslim community is not buying its existence in the country... As far as the IM is concerned, nobody knows what it is, where it was formed, how it was formed and who runs it." Asked if he was denying the existence of the outfit, Khan said he was neither denying nor questioning anything, but pointed out that "the community has that feeling".

He also said there were some "misguided" youths in every section of society, and drew parallels with the Bajrang Dal.

While declining to comment on reports that the IM was formed after the Gujarat riots, Khan asserted that there was "a sense of insecurity" and "anger" among the Muslims after the Babri Masjid demoliton and the Gujarat riots. "That is a fact which nobody can deny," he said.

"Muslims of India have total commitment to the country's security," he added. He said barring the Batla House conviction, no Muslim has been found guilty in a terror case. "It is only suspected. A few are suspected... their involvement is not proved... Even in Kashmir, terrorists are coming from outside the country... With such a large population, have you ever found a single Indian Muslim going and supporting terrorists in Kashmir?" he asked.

"Some youths are misguided. Some of the fundamentalist Hindu youths may also be misguided... Hindu fundamentalist organisations like Bajrang Dal...What is it that they are doing? What about moral policing and all? What are they doing? How do you describe this attitude of some misguided Hindu organisations? Why don't you talk about that? Who will control them? You take some suspected youth from the Muslim community...but such elements are free to do whatever they like," he said.

"If there are real people involved, please engage the Muslim community... take the community's moderate leadership into confidence... If they are misguided, somebody should guide them. Who will guide them? This police, IB or CBI?" asked Khan. "You take the moderate leadership of every section of society — whether it is Hindu society or Muslim society — and give them the task of de-radicalisation. Entrust it to the society," he said.

Muslims don't believe Indian Mujahideen exists, says Rahman Khan - Indian Express

Where we are heading in terms of politics?

had these politician forgot what is National Security?

Who has given the licence to this minister to speak on behalf of whole Muslim community?

DID he not know that IM has been banned in INDIA , UK , USA and in new Zealand?

You forgot to add MAJORITY !!

Strongly object to such stupid statements . Suspicion stems mostly from evidences & we all know about how the judicial system works in India, it's slow and not convicted doesn't mean they're all clean !! :rolleyes2:

Remember the Kashmir Recruitment case & LeT's South India commander Thadiyantavide Nazeer !!

In our perception - according to our media, IM is the result of a joint effort of Indian and Western Intel to malign the Muslims. It is proving counter productive to Indian interest causing unrest in the nation. It is baffling that India should have allowed CIA or FBI to open offices on its soil. There are endless instances of nefarious activities by these organizations which mostly manufacture conflicts and issues where there is none. The objective is to exploit the situation for own advantage.

If we fail to engage the world and sit in a shell, we would be outcasted and devalued. Nothing wrong in engaging Western units, but one should know their limitations in engaging them. Just be cause they are so called evil, you caste them away. First of all how do we claim them as evil. It is in nations interest that prevails.

I do have an issue with the Islamic community but it has nothing to do with terrorism.
Of course we should all be appalled at terrorism and safeguard against it however reasonably possible but the strategic significance of one-off attacks is nothing.
Even if such an attack were caused by a muslim indigenous to India, his behavior cannot be extrapolated to that of all Indian muslims.

My issue with India's muslim demographic has nothing to do with the nature of muslims as people. Muslims are no different than Hindus or Christians or atheists or Buddhists or anyone else as Indians.

My issue with India's muslim demographic is the religion. As I've said before, it is fundamental to Islamic ideology that Islam take precedence over any other identity one may have. And that is incompatible with an India where all people are united under Indian identity first and foremost.

Secondly, muslims will become 20% of India very soon given how rapidly the demographic is growing, much faster than any other religious demographic in India. I do not want India to become an Islamic nation. There are many Islamic nations. India is the only Hindu nation. Moreover the rigidities in law and culture imposed by Islamic law are incompatible with an Indian nation that is able to adapt in any way to perform at full potential and out-competes its rivals.

There are many muslims that are far more competent people than Hindus or anyone else. There are many muslims who consider themselves Indians first. There are many muslims that are willing to put aside their religious sensibilities to allow for India to adapt however necessary. But so long as muslims are a major demographic in India, then a major demographic of Indians embrace a philosophy that comes with a real potential to be corrupted (by internal influence or that from India's neighboring Islamic world rivals) toward counter-unity and counter-productivity.

I would welcome Indian muslims to reinterpret their faith entirely to do away with the above obstacles but until then India must take steps at stemming and reversing the growth of a philosophy that does not dispose a nation to modernity in technology and culture, and has the potential to cause major division in Indian society.

Failing that. I would like to see the GoI take steps at significantly reversing the growth of the muslim demographic within India. It can be done by proxy of other metrics; for example, population control according to income, as muslims tend to be among the lower economic classes. Either that or provide muslims the administrative assistance, temporary stipend, and airfare to tear up their citizenship papers and reside in any other Islamic nation of their choosing. Further, I would like for India to remain a predominantly Hindu nation with mutually beneficial and friendly relations with the Islamic world, rather than an Islamified nation with non-muslim and muslim demographics at war with each other.

And if muslims believe Islamic law, as it is, is compatible with national unity and mutual respect with other faiths within the same nation, and that it will allow nations to adapt and modernize just as well, then I wish them best of luck, in their own Islamic nations.

    ^ He just nailed it.
It is growth that has to be criterion, nothing else matters.

True, if you ask any of the leaders of the present government about their plans. They just way that we want India to be secular.
The problem is that the whole Indian elephant has gone down the drain in name of Secularism.

Correct me if I am wrong, but we are the only country where the Government thinks that Secularism is more important than Development. If you see the statements made by the ruling party spokes people, more than 20% of the time it is about Secularims and rest 80% is utter bull$hit.

The people who really should be making statements MMS, PC are in their own dream that India is developing and the food is very cheap (of course they get it free so they do not know)

The present situation in India is very similar to the time before the french revolution, and the statements made by Farooq Abdullah, Raj Babbar and the other stupid RS MP also from UPA does make fun of the poverty of the people.

The French revolution got tremendous support and made it more fiery when the Queen Marie Antoinette who was very unpopular since she was an Austria supposedly said "If the people dont have bread, let them eat the cake"

This statement supposedly stated by Marie Antoinette is very much related to the statements of the Congress and UPA leaders. But you can see how weak our democracy is that the Government is not even taking action against these unsensitive MPs but the people are weak even to rise against such Tyrannical government who have no concern or respect for the people of the country..

Let me state this now... I might really feel India is a great country if the INDIAN MARIE ANTOINETTE FACES GUILLOTINE IN INDIA.
