    .

we haven't heard name of "Candidate of Vice PM from BJP" yet. and this does prove, BJP continue to fail to prove itself a "National Party". since Mr Modi is taken as candidate for the post of PM from BJP, we see a certain decline in BJP's loyalty with India, the nation. :sniper:

One-third of Indian voters want Narendra Modi for PM: Poll

A third of voters want Narendra Modi to be their next prime minister, placing him well ahead of his rivals in general elections due by May, according to the latest in a series of opinion polls that show rising support for the opposition candidate.

The survey, conducted by pollsters CSDS for the CNN-IBN television channel, also forecast that Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would win 192-210 seats in the 543-seat assembly, while the ruling Congress party would only bag 92-108 seats.

Given India’s diverse and fragmented electorate, neither the BJP nor any other party is expected to win the 272 seats needed for an outright majority. The biggest party will seek to form a coalition with regional parties.

Modi, who has presided over rapid economic growth during more than 12 years as the chief minister of Gujarat, has been wooing voters by pointing to his track record as a leader who cuts red tape and attracts investment.

“People are looking forward to leadership, they think a strong leader will solve their problems,†said CSDS director Sanjay Kumar. “They don’t want a dictator, but they want someone who can take strong decisions.â€

By contrast, Congress has shied away from naming its prime ministerial candidate until after the polls, even though many party workers had wanted Rahul Gandhi, a scion of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty that leads the party, to take on the role.

    Scandals

After a decade in power, Congress faces public anger over a string of corruption scandals, slow policymaking and economic growth hitting a decade-low.

While 34 per cent of voters surveyed picked Modi as their first choice for prime minister, only 15 per cent chose Gandhi, according to the CSDS poll. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul’s mother and Congress party chief, was in third place with five per cent.

The survey’s national-level forecasts were released on Friday, while state-level forecasts were released in stages earlier this week.

Another survey released on Thursday, conducted by pollsters CVoter for the India Today media group, found that almost half of respondents wanted Modi versus 15 per cent who backed Gandhi.

The CVoter poll forecast that the BJP would win 188 seats in the election, more than double the expected tally for Congress.

India’s diverse political landscape makes election results notoriously hard to forecast, particularly in terms of how many seats a party might win, versus the more straightforward calculation of a party’s share of the overall vote.

The CSDS poll surveyed just under 18,600 voters in 18 states, with a margin of error that varied from state to state.

CVoter surveyed almost 21,800 respondents across all of the 28 states, with a three percent margin of error at the national level and five percent margin at the state level.

Both surveys showed that the BJP has little or no presence in India’s prosperous southern states, where at least one alliance will likely be needed to secure a national majority.

Modi raps Centre for not building war memorial

The Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, on Monday criticised the Centre for not building a war memorial for thousands of soldiers who laid down their lives in wars and the fight against terrorists.

He was speaking at a programme organised by the Shahid Gaurav Committee and the Lodha Foundation here on completion of 50 years of Ae Mere Watan ke Logon, which was written during the India-China war.

Lata Mangeshkar, who had first sung the song in 1963, was felicitated by Mr. Modi.

“Ours would be the only country in the world which does not honour its martyrs through a war memorial. It is the government’s duty to honour its defence forces,â€￾ he said.

Mr. Modi said people from Kashmir to Kanyakumari were demanding a war memorial and the government should take a note of the plea.

Calling for dynamic policy changes to encourage Indian businesses in the defence industry, he targeted the government for importing arms. “If the country decides and if it gets able leadership bringing dynamic policy changes, our business community will start exporting arms in the next 10 years,â€￾ he said, underscoring the need for defence-related courses in engineering colleges.

Attacking the neighbouring country for forcing a ‘proxy war’ on India, Mr. Modi said the country had lost more jawans to such acts than in an actual war. The families of the martyrs in the 26/11 attacks and 50 defence personnel who lost their lives were felicitated by Mr. Modi.

General (retd.) Ved Prakash Malik was present.

Now, justice Santosh Hegde endorses Modi as PM

I agree with the policies of Narendra Modi and compared to the other two Modi is better, said Hegde.

BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is garnering support even from unexpected quarters and the credit for this goes to his unique style of governance. The latest name added to this list is former Karnataka Lokayukta and former Supreme Court judge justice N Santosh Hegde.

In an interview the Kannada daily Vijay Karnataka on being asked “Who is better according to you Narendra Modi, Kejriwal or Rahul Gandhi?â€￾ he said, “I do not support dynastic politics so no point in supporting Rahul Gandhi. I do not find Kejriwal good enough. Then the only option I have among the three is Modi. I agree with the policies of Narendra Modi and compared to the other two Modi is better. I like Modi’s style of governance.â€￾

Justice Hegde, an active member of Anna Hazare’s India Against Corruption movement, was also miffed with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s style of governance and even asked him to correct his mistakes after taking oath as CM.

Ahmed Patel takes on Modi over his machismo

Dahod: Senior Congress leader and political secretary to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi Ahmed Patel on Thursday took on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over his '56-inch chest' boast, asking why he did not venture out of his house during the riots.

Patel was addressing a gathering of tribal community near Rukdi village near here.

"To those who talk of having 56-inch chest... I want to ask, Chief Minister of Gujarat, where were you at the time of (terror) attack on Akshardham (temple), you were not able to come out of house for three days, when the riots (2002) took place you did not come out of your house for five days." "There is no democracy in Gujarat, this is a dictatorial government working here," Patel said.

"Today is the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, 66 years ago only his body was killed, today they are trying to destroy his ideals.

"The present development model is not Gujarat model but Modi model. Gujarat model of development is the one propagated by Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel which meant progress for all including those standing last. But, in the model of today's government, development benefits reach only a few," he said.
