They will be outfitted and in sea trails by the end of the year apparently. India is now maturing the quality of products it is able to produce but once again delays remain an issue- this "chalta hai"/"Indian Standard Time" cr@p needs to end in the strategic sector- any delays should come with a heavy financial penalty and the ability to meet on-time targets should be factored in when awarding contracts with past performance being one of the metrics.

+ any info on the X/S band survelleince radars that will be fitted?

Nope, but I just found out these ships are under Project-21 class (edited title now). Didn't know they had a Project number as Saryu didn't.

That is where the navy has stolen the march. They make ample space to fit equipment after vessel is ready. The Indian designed ships have ample space and are way more comfortable than the Soviet/Russian class. Interesting.

I think it is interesting and a testament to the class of the IN that despite being exposed to Russian/Soviet designs throughout their entire history until just a few years ago, the IN has built up core expertise in-house that is able to appreciate the best qualities and not merely mimick what the Soviets/Russians had done. The IN's designed vessels are world class in their ammenities and design features whilst the Chinese still seem to be unable to think beyond their reverse-engineering mindset.

You see true innovation and emulation of global best practicies within the IN that is truly remarkable given its history.

Reliance sourced this design from an US marine design firm.

Good job then. We need products on ground, for far too long have we languished on the drawing boards and heady ideas which remained as such.

L&T seems to have a good design department though, they have ex-NDB folks working for them. :) They are building 7 OPVs for the coast guard.

Correct, india has matured in shipbuildingshipbuilding but what lacks is the armament compartment we r not able to produce decent naval guns, is it true that otomalera gun manufacturers r blacklisted, hence no new guns r being acquired, these NOPVS r good looking but under armed, is there possibility of fitting them with torpedo's & barak 1 system?

They don't have Hull Mounted Sonar System or Towed Array Sonar System, so Torpedoes would be useless.

Navy has put up a requirement for SR SAM.... when procured , they may be used.
