I think it was purely unintentional. I found a couple other pics in my archive of the monument taken at various times of the year.

Lighting, distance, natural phenomena and camera placement give the impression of censoring, but I also found one straight on showing the statue in all it's glory. I'll hold off on posting it though since it shows naughty bits in vivid detail, but I do think the flag placement was unintentional.

you're contry is very pretty. When my country touches 10 Trillion GDP, I would prefer it kept the old buildings than tear them up and build 'modern' buildings like the chinese. Houses/ buildings like this one, inspired by designs native to our lands

There aren't a lot of pics from this exercise yet, but here's a few from the Army's NCO school's combat endurance exercise.

If you want to preserve your history, you need to start today, not when you reach an arbitrary economic goal. By then it might be too late. That goes for older homes too (though they should be modernized as well to meet changing energy standards). While Norway's a pretty bad example when it comes to older homes, in the US there's a market on the East Coast for 1800s "colonial" homes. By preserving older houses in India, perhaps you can create a similar "retro" market as the nation modernizes?

The weather around here is pretty bad when it comes to preserving old buildings though. Brick buildings like Akershus Fortress were built to last and survive not just the elements, but military bombardments too. But outside of military installations, a lot of Norway's older buildings are made of wood and even the brick ones require restoration work annually. Norway's cold and humid climate (believe it or not, Norway is on average more humid then India!) isn't conducive for preserving wooden buildings and restoration work is constant and expensive, but well worth it I'd say.

Some of the most prominent old buildings are Norway's 28 stave churches, many of which are over 900 years old! Up to 2000 existed, but all but the 28 still standing fell into disrepair.

It's best to start today to preserve the older buildings from developers, land reclamation or natural events so that they'll be there tomorrow. I'm fully supportive of this though, I love preserving and exploring a countries history.

I don't have anything new to post today, so how about some history?

Akershus Fortress is a proud symbol of Norwegian strength, resilience and national pride. While today it hosts foreign dignitaries and Heads of State, it was once among the most important military instillation in Norway. Built to protect the Norwegian capital Oslo, it is believed to have been constructed around 1300 after an assault on Oslo by Earl Alv Erlingsson. He failed like so many others.

It has been said that whomever control the fortress rules Norway. It's importance to naval power in the region at the time of its use could not be understated due to its proximity to the North Sea, protecting a crucial choke point, and to Olso itself, a major maritime commercial hub.

Akershus Fortress has never been successfully besieged by any foreign or domestic power, despite the best efforts of our Swedish friends, though it was ceded to Germany during the Occupation of Norway. In 1945 control of Akershus returned to its rightful owner.

Today it is open to the public.

Once again I have nothing new to post right now, so as the anniversary approaches next month, here are some pictures of the aftermath of the July 22, 2011 Norway Attacks.

These photos were taken one day after the attack, July 23, 2011 in Oslo. Utøya Island remained closed off.

Pictures of the Coast Guard conducting several exercises. Included are a towing exercise, supply delivery run to Bjørnøya of the Svalbard Archipelago and a diver rescue simulation (in that order). The exercises were conducted in mid-May, 2017.

TMBN recently had a change in personal deployed to Lithuania as part of the Lithuania Multinational Battalion, a NATO Enhanced Forward Presence initiative, but more equipment was also sent to reinforce their garrison (May, 2017). HNoMS Roald Amundsen provided escort, linking up with SNMG 1 for the Photoex shown above while enroute.

KV Svalbard is the Norwegian Coast Guard's largest ship and its only icebreaker. Here the crew of KV Svalbard conducts regular patrol operations including inspecting fishing boats and their catch, catches some fish themselves, makes a visit to Bear Island of the Svalbard Archipelago and conducts medical drills with KV Andenes (May, 2017).

Divided into 14 districts, the Norwegian Home Guard's primary responsibility is the defence of major instillation and cities within their areas of responsibility. Here soldiers from Home Guard district 14 join their counterparts in the Sea Home Guard during an exercise to test their ability to defend a vital instillation from attack.

FSK has seen action in Macedonia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia and Kashmir. It is likely active across other hot spots in the Middle East and Africa.
