    Seriously. It's not a misprint.

    From 1995 through ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

FSK, while never discussed in any form publicly by the Norwegian government, was first deployed to J&K during a 1995 hostage crisis in which several Western citizens were kidnapped by Al-Faran militants.

The mission was not successful and the hostages were later killed by their captives.

I suspected that this was going to be used. But the claim, of 'seeing action' is rather a fair bit of stretch of imagination. No, actual ground deployment of your troops never took place.

Instead, they (the SFs of US, US and Norway) were limited to Delhi, with an observer or two kept under 'escort' at Srinagar. Strictly monitored.

That is the only aspect I wanted to clarify. :)

It was, after all, a PR 'coup' for India, as you are well aware, a series of mistake by Pakistan in allowing 'free reign' to militants there, on the backdrop of a hope of getting pressure mounted on India over the issue.

A claim for their operating for the same, may best be taken with the view of 'domestic consumption to show action on ground'.

    FIRST FLIGHT
At 10:32 on Thursday June 15, Gripen E took off on its maiden flight, flown by a Saab test pilot. The aircraft (designation 39-8) left from Saab’s airfield in Linköping, Sweden and flew over the eastern parts of Östergötland for 40 minutes. During the flight, the aircraft carried out a number of actions to demonstrate various test criteria including the retracting and extending of the landing gear.

Norway's heavy movers and logistics depots. It's not glamorous, but nothing in the military works without someone moving it from Point A to Point B.

For extremely heavy air-lift Norway calls on either the AN-225 or C-17s from Heavy Air Lift Wing Papa.

This is the first good picture I've seen of the HK-416S, a Norwegianized DMR version of the HK-416N.

It's not a commercially available modification, rather it was done in-house by us Norgies.

@Abingdonboy the medium Helo that HAL is building- this looks like a comparable unit.

What are the nature of the modifcations done by Norway to make it suitable for the DMR role?

I wouldn't say HAL rips anyone off but like with pretty much every manufacturer there is common design language, largely because of convergent design- a common problem requires a common solution.

Overall the HK-416s is similar to the American SAM-R in that the only major modification done to make the basic infantry rifle suited for marksman purposes is adding a heavier 20" barrel and bipod.

It seems to be sporting a new sight as well. I'm not sure if I can identify the make or model though:undecided:.

I only have one new picture to post, but I don't feel like posting it:girl_wacko:. So here's a screen grab from that pic showing the standard load out for an HK-416N of the Norwegian Army's Telemark Battalion.
