I realised I had quite a few of these videos bookmarked so thought it would be worth starting a thread to keep a catalouge of such things and to help show what they look like.

    President of India:

Vice president of India (en route to beating reatreat ceremony, this video is filmed by someone in the Mercedes sprinter ambulance part of the VP's motorcade):

    Prime minister of India:

(now former) COAS Dalbir Singh visiting J&K:

Feel free to contribute everyone but let's keep the content restricted to the seniormost leadership(PM, President, Vice president and service chiefs), there are countless videos online of every tom dick and harry's motorcade (including CMs) but if there is a particualry interesting video/motorcade please do post :D

    Here's an interesting one:

(now former) PM Dr MMS being welcomed to Gujarat by (now PM) Modi

(now former) PM Dr MMS arriving at Rastrapi Bhavan to resign as PM to the president in 2014 following the results of the election:

PM's daily commute (7 LKM to PMO):

(then)President of France Hollande riding with the PM during their visit to Chandigarh:

(after 1:30) PM's motorcade moving to Akshardham temple, riding with PM Modi is the Australian PM Malcom Turnball:

    PM driving to parliament:

Arrving at former PM's house ABV (I think):

For an idea of what a PM convoy looks like outside of Delhi/NCR:

(^not much different, the SPG still transports their own armoured, electronic counter measure and escort vehicles to wherever but I've noticed that they now only use armoured SUVs (Range Rover or Tata Safar or Toyota Land Cruiser) to transport the PM outside of Delhi/NCR, previously they would take use BMW 7 series)

Hauling some a$$ through the mountains in J&K:

PM at IFR 2016 in Vizag:

SPG also transport their own vehicles when the PM travels to the immediate neighborhood (Fiji, SL, Seychelles, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangledesh etc) where they are perhaps less able to meet the needs of the SPG:

(^ the TATA Safari ECM vehicle and 2x BMW 7 series were brought there for the PM's visit)

R-Day 2004 but it could be 1984 looking at those vehicles!:

    Just Nitpicking

Think the Plain clothes SPG should get a better tailors , the suits and the ... sorry what the other type of plain clothes is called? .... should have a broader waist line to accommodate the side arm and communication + They need to fit them well - make them smart and intimidating !

What they are wearing now are either ill fitting or tight!

For the PM the decsion rests with the SPG, not sure about for the president (I would assume the protection unit inside Delhi Police). Things have changed in the last 15 or so years, it wasn't until 2003/4 that the PM switched from Ambassadors to the 7 Series!

Sorry , should have been a bit clear.... Not what the PM or president riding in. Asking for the SPG themselves or Delhi Police

This Car - the Hindustan Motors Contessa - Can't believe they still drove in 2004 for escort duties Contessa.jpg

The Japanese PM's visit to Ahmedabad with PM Modi- one of THE most unique SPG deployments I have seen so far:

SPG took 4 (as opposed to the usual 2) armoured protection vehicles for the PM; 2x BMW 760Li and 2x Toyota Land Cruisers as well as 5-6 of their new Toyota Fortuner escort vehicles (usually this role is given to their TATA Safaris for out of NCR duties, perhaps the Toyota Fortuner is replacing them in this role) and the typical TATA Safari based ECM vehicle/Jammer.

Also the first time I have ever seen police bike escorts given to the PM, this may be a ceremonial purpose and requested by the Japanese (?).

    ...which is good.
But Toyota is not one of the most fuel efficient cars.

Landcruiser is a monster which needs gallons and gallons of petrol (diesel version doesn't exist afaik).
But yeah both fortuner and Landcrusier are sturdy vehicles.
So it's heartening to know that SPG is leaving no stone unturned to keep our DEARest PM safe. <3

Not sure the SPG care about MPG :p

Or at least it is not their number 1 priority.

The Fortuners are nice but nothing can beat this:

Sadly it doesn't seem that the old X5s will be replaced by new gen X5s.

To the best of my knowledge, new X5's are not released with ballistic and armoured protection yet.

Hmm are you sure about that? The current gen X5 has been out for some time, I'd be surprised if that was the case but you could be correct.....

It is standard procedure that very security step-up by the host nation is reviewed and modified to suit the needs of the visitors correct?

I do remember as a kid - the princess and prince of japan visit al ain in 1993 - the route was cleared and we were forced to parked the car in the by streets. Can't remember the motorcade, BUT i did see that the main car they were travelling in were surrounded by AD Motorbike police escorts - so yes you might be right - requested by the Japanese

Yes and in this case the GoI would've wanted to extend every courtesy to the Japanese PM given the nature of the relationship so would've been extra accomodating to the guests.
