Cheyenne doesn't have contra-rotating propellers, though. What I'm talking about is pushing the helicopter beyond the point where retreating blades would stall, so that the lifting propeller would not limit its top speed. Basically a combination of Ka-50s and Cheyenne's technical solutions.

Maybe. Would add a few extra mph but more complicated.

Russia’s Aerospace Forces hope to have the first batch of fifth generation PAK FA T-50 jets next year, Aerospace Force commander Viktor Bondarev told the media on Friday.

"We will be through with its testing next year. The first five planes are priced in the contract," Bondarev said. "I believe that next year we will have the five planes in question."

He added the fighter jet would begin to be batch-produced shortly after that.

“This is a 5th generation aircraft that will be created in cooperation with the Indian company. It will be slightly similar to the FGFA, but will still be an independent, new and advanced aircraft. We have almost finished all negotiations and are ready to sign; only formalities remain. I hope this contract will be signed before the end of the year", he said.

RUSSIAN PAK FA FIGHTERS EQUIPPED WITH OPERATIONAL ENGINES TO BE TESTED IN LATE 2017

Russia is planning to test its Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA) fifth-generation fighters using operational engines in late 2017. Also equipped with advanced avionics and all-digital flight systems, the fighter is set to become the first operational stealth aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
“PAK FA with operational engine should begin tests in the end of 2017, to begin a series of tests as part of the plane in the fourth quarter,” Alexander Artyukhov the head of the United Engine Corporation was quoted as saying on Thursday by Sputnik News.

"We will complete the trials of the PAK FA fighter jet next year. The first five PAK FA fighter jets have been included in the contract," Russian Aerospace Force Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev said.

Last Friday Tass news agency reported that Russian Air Force would receive the first five T-50 PAK FA fifth-generation fighter aircraft in early 2017. "I believe that we will start receiving the first five planes next year," Bondarev said. The serial production of the advanced fighter jets will begin soon after the initial delivery, he added. Besides, the Aerospace Force is also receiving Sukhoi Su-35S multi-role fighters, Mil Mi-28N (Havoc) and Kamov Ka-52 (Hokum-B) attack helicopters, as well as upgraded Tupolev Tu-95MS (Bear) and Tu-160 (Blackjack) strategic bombers that "are showing excellent characteristics," the Air Chief said.

Further, about 20 Sukhoi Su-30SM multi-role fighters would be delivered to the Air Force annually. “We will receive 20-24 planes, which is needed to equip an air regiment," Bondarev said. The contract is being awarded to Irkut Corporation for the supply of 30 Su-30SM multi-role fighters as part of Defence Order for 2016-2018 to the Russian Air Force by the end of 2018. The PAK FA fighter was first seen in January 2010 when it was presented at the air show MAKS-2011.

So likely IOC is 2019, given approximately 2 years of testing is typical.

The Indian deal will be instrumental in deciding the pace of testing and induction. Past December, things might become more clear.

    Good Day!

The engine is for the Stage 2 program, it doesn't affect Stage 1.

But they'll still need time to test and train and IOC usually required at least one full squadron.
