How do you think they assets the fighter, to demand the several modifications including more powerful engines for FGFA? They are working with the Russians for years on the FGFA planning, sadly the politics around it didn't get us far.

India will make both Rafale and PAK FA in future

That is why the Transfer of technology is what we are always Insisting upon

Similarly Su 30 upgradation will also be done in India

We are definitely far behind advanced countries
But we will catch up one day ; sometime around 2050

By 2050 every plane built today will be obsolete. Question is could India even manufacture an advance fighter with the skill and precision with out the corruption at the present time to the extent needed to have a successful plane.

What politics ; we dont have any political problems with Russia

We can demand anything but Russia can give only what they have

    They are still working on PAK FA ;
so how can they promise us technologies which dont exist
    for the so called FGFA

Russian defense minister announced Russia had neither the funds or technology to build the PAK FA, they some how they talked India into investing billions more. I would not plan on that working out.

Am too old it took ten years for India to buy 26 Rafales for 240 million each.

You could make 2/3rds of the Rafale of solid gold for the price you all are paying. Ever figure it.

It will get delayed but eventually we will get there

India and Russia have no other choice but to keep cooperating

Russia does not Trust China and
India can get the latest technology Only from Russia

It was the first Tranche of 36 Rafales

All the TOT and Offset deals delayed it ; but it is OK
A good deal is better than a Hasty deal

More Rafales will be ordered later

Even Make in India is also likely

PLAAF and PAF are Not having better planes than IAF

Plus PLAAF has too many enemies to contend with
such as USA ; Taiwan ; Japan

Russia is selling ever thing they sell to India to China. They need the money, they don't care where it comes from.

Stealth cannot anymore than what it can now can it... Though there is a huge scope for Radars to improve. The pace of developments in Radar is much faster than the Stealth...

US is already planning on a different strategy after next couple of decades.

We can easily manage to live with a 5-10 year delay in inducting similar gen aircraft. The Soviet Union did the same.

UAE and other Gulf countries won't get a 5th gen fighter until much later. Their only choice is the Rafale for 5th gen right now. The Israelis have blocked the sale of the F-35 to them. And UAE is yet to start discussions for a 5th gen development with Russia, which will take at least 15 years to FOC.

All other development programs will take the same amount of time. IAF will be in the middle of inducting the FGFA while all other IOR rim countries will only be getting operational 5th gen jets.

Bro, we have already had multiple teams working on the aircraft since before 2010.
