My answer was not clear because all our discussion around detection of F22 radar begin with the question from DbC related to ATLC exercise. US has never accepted BVR combat with the F22 during such exercises against Rafale. For F22 way of war the question is open.

The traditional dogfights using guns only as weapon have only training value and to allow pilots to walk with oversized egos. The newer version of dogfight is very limited in older sense and now its more about avoiding being shot down and using all aspect WVR missiles which can just shoot targets from any dirxn.

FGFA will be single seater only,b'coz to modify to a twin seater we have compromise on its stealth capablities so now india if satisfied with single seater FGFA

Actually, the Indian twin-seat PAK FA (PMF) will be produced, only in a much smaller scale than originally thought. The design effort is to incorporate the expanded dimensions without adversely impacting the radar, electronic, and IR signature too much. The total tally of PMFs (both single seat and twin seat) is placed at about 216 aircraft, of which about 40 will be twin seats.

210 fighters are approx 10 squadrons. 21 in each 3 of those will be for training purpose. So we need 30 twin seat FGFA. So I think, Twin seat fgfa will be only for training.

Assuming enemy air force has less than one quarter of USAF's numbers and is at least 20 years behind Europe in RWR, jammer and IRST technology, then yes.

Guys, we are unnecessarily comparing F 22 with Pak Fa as F 22 is already a dead project and more importantly none of our adversaries are going to get this fighter. A more likely comparison should be J 20 with Pak Fa.

If PAK FA can beat F-22, then it can beat J-20.

Still that didn't stop USAF training their pilots in TOPGUN for dog fighting tactics.

I think even F-35 would be able to beat J-20.

j-20 is not designed to fight it is more like a stealth platform to launch missile or a stealth bomber .. it has more range cuz it can carry more fuel .. and more payload ... j-31 will be a stealth fighter but god knows when they will suceed in it .. india will have the fgfa before j31 hits production

Sources said that FGFA will hit production by 2019, but that when twin seater fighter was proposed, but now when IAF has agreed to go with one seater version only, don't you all think FGFA can hit production line by 2017 as PAK FA is scheduled to hit production by 2015.

Its a fighter design programme, things never go as planned
a delay of 2-3 in a fighter programme is nothing
