    1. Pakistan sponsored terrorism along the Silk Route is both an instrument of Islamabad's regional strategy.
    2. China Will Dominate The Region, (Pak is a gateway to Afghanistan).

Afghanistan and to some extend Iran works as a counter balance for India towards Pakistan, Afghanistan gateway for Trade and Business is through Pakistan and preferably Afghanistan shouldn't sour their relation with Pakistan, India also share strategic interest with many central Asian nation and current trend of international opinion towards terrorism including that of Afghanistan is working in favour for India, for Pakistan only way to improve relation with her neighbour is by discouraging to foster Jihadi terrorism through ISI, which is increasingly becoming a pain for the neighbour and the world at large, we have similar concerns and similar interest, for a Pakistan to maintain cordial relation with her neighbour India and Afghanistan, it will have to cease funding terrorism efforts, which if done will benefit both India and Afghanistan, otherwise both our nation will have similar concerns with Pakistan, another concern is also to isolate Pakistan from all her neighbour to discourage Pakistan to foster terrorism and let Pakistan realise their guilt of their misconcept about Jihadi mischiefs.

Karzai's remark upon Pakistan is purely diplomatic, long live India-Afghanistan friendship and I hope a moderate Pakistan stands tomorrow who discourage terrorism which will benefit all three of us, or else get ready to feel isolated in the neighbourhood.

India and Afghanistan friendship have strategic interest, Afghanistan and Pakistans relation is a diplomatic necessity.

first of all.... what do we have here? Hindustan times covering a story off NYT?
Now just answer me this.... How reliable has NYT proved itself over the last decade?

anywho... yes there are Afghan Taliban going un-noticed in Pak, but same can be said for A'stan, plenty of TTP there.

I have none else to say other then what a failure the WOT has been, a huge failure on epicproportions, both US and her allies have lost the war, Pakistan will also loose the war if it chooses to engage Afghan Taliban, HN and elements in NW.

A root we aren't willing to take...
If you'd like to solve your own problems for once Mr.Obama...? would be appreciated

Seal the blasted border!!!!!!!! God damn it man, problem solved for us and for you.....

For what? To help china invade Afghanistan using their Pakistani proxies and take over the land using Taliban under ISI’s administration to first assinate Karzai and then to extract the 4 trillion plus iron ore and minerals reserves to feed the hungry dragon. Yeah that sounds about right. Oh wait please don’t stick the conspiracy theory alert on my post. Please pretty please

on what basis are you questioning NYT's credibility. Can you please post some sources?

So you agree, the ground situation in pakistan is same as in Afghanistan. pakistan aims to do what NATO couldn't achieve in Afghanistan? you do not need any outside assistance in battling the dastardly criminals?

What makes you say WoT has been an "epic failure". Agreed we have not yet achieved the desired results, but we have a elected head of state in Afghanistan. The mastermind & several of his key allies have been eliminated. The terrorists have been on the run and their funding evaporated. You gotta give credit where it is due.
And you choose not to fight the extremists in your country, are you suggesting yourself that yours is a failed lawless state, incapable of punishing the guilty? You suggest not to fight the enemy, isn't that what a pigeon does when it sees a cat? closes his eyes. But that doesn't stop the cat from hunting it down. Just like the terrorists are also taking out innocent civilians in pakistan while the officials refuse to fight them.
Yes, these elements are a problem for US but it is a problem created by pakistan or atleast with some pakistani assistance. You can choose to overlook it and let it all come to bite you in the back or do something about it and be more acceptable to other's concerns if you want to be recognized as a responsible state.

And if you say seal the border and problem solved, then it can mean either that pakistani army is incompetent since infiltration is occuring in kashmir from pakistani side and IA can no naught about it for our spineless leaders or PA is itself in bed with the terrorists coming into kashmir from pakistani side, which one is it?

It is a good move by Karzai and MMS to sign a pact to cooperate in the future in whatever capacity; however, I feel that this "deal" is so late that its effect will be too localized and not benefit India in the bigger picture. India should have always maintained a close relationship with Afghanistan once the Soviets were booted out of there given the fact that Pakistanis also deserted the Mujahideen. This presented a fantastic opportunity for India to swoop in and establish rock solid relationships with the Afghans through various nation-building mechanisms. Such farsightedness, in any capacity, let alone statecraft, is dissuaded by "elders" who prefer to keep the status quo.

This would have thwarted the chances of the Taliban ever gaining a stronghold in Afghanistan. However, I speak of dreams of a bygone time. Now, India should explicitly and forcefully co-invest in Afghanistan with the local citizens; building infrastructure, schools, hospitals, universities, theaters, and encouraging sports; even perhaps start a fledgling Afghan cricket team(?). This "soft" power will have tremendous benefits for not only Afghans for the foreseeable future, but benefit India as an ally as well as make sure no Taliban or Lashkar type idiots ever gain a stronghold there again.

Every Afghan I've met (many of them work at car dealerships in the US), are always friendly towards Indians, including Hindus. They want friendship with India and have serious reservations about Pakistan. Of course, my conversations with a few Afghans are not indicative of the general Afghan populace, but I would wager it would be similar.

It has been made amply clear to Pakistan that India does not plan to encircle them and attack them unless attacked first. Therefore, by helping Afghans reach some stability and economic progress is actually in the best interest of Pakistan also.

My feeling is that India should be aggressive in their relationship/nation building stance with Afghanistan and actually be explicit about it to assuage any concerns Pakistan has. Of course, in the background, receiving contracts for mining, infrastructure, businesses, etc. will all be beneficial to India in the long run.

Last but not least, Afghanistan was part of Akhand Bharat; a Hindu-Buddhist place that shares a civilizational link with India. Rebuilding places of archeological import (Bamiyan etc.) would play a great role in the betterment of Afghan society at large.

Let's hope for the best but prepare for the worst; those 166+ Sukhoi PAK-FAs should help I would think! :india:

^^ in a hypothetical scenario of combined India and Pakistan, the resultant will be the same 'Republic of India' or 'United Republic of India' to the most.

You cant seal a border, even if you build a wall, plant mines and shoot people crossing, like the Berlin Wall. I think the mission in Afgan is pretty well complete, Osama dead, most of the others involved in 911, a new goverment in place, provide some support kick them out of the nest, leave a few bases to provide air support and drones behind and see what happens. As long as the taliban and terrorist leave the USA alone I dont really care what happens in Afgan and Pakistan. If Afgan and Pakistan terrorist dont leave the US alone, make it very painful for any country that does not deal with terrorist that attack the USA
Take out every power plant and dam,, every major bridge. If a country wants electricity, radio and tv stations, they leave the USA alone.
PAKISTAN WE CANT STOP YOU FROM DOING ANYTHING YOU WANT BUT WE SURE AS HELL CAN MAKE YOU WISH YOU HADNOT.
