    PNS Alamgir, Kuwait Navy to hold joint exercise

    Islamabad—Pakistani Naval Ship (PNS), Alamgir will hold joint exercises with Kuwait Navy during a good-will visit to Kuwait from July 2 to 6.

    Pakistan Naval Shipsperiodically undertake goodwill visits to the State of Kuwait which provide excellent opportunity to Pakistan Navy officials to interact with their counterparts at brotherly country Kuwait.

    It also helps in further improving the strong relations between the two countries. The ship is named after Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir who was the sixth Muslim ruler of Great Mughal Empire.

    PNS ALAMGIR was commissioned on Aug 31, 2010 at Mayport Florida USA.

    The ship has a tonnage of 4100 tons with overall length of 138.1 M. It is multi mission capable ship, fitted with potent weapon and sensor systems.

    The ship is capable of carrying two ASW Origin Helicopters. The mission of the ship is to maintain the standards of professionalism and excellence which are a hallmark of Pakistan Navy.

    The Commanding Officer of the ship, Captain Naveed Ashraf during the stay in Kuwait will pay courtesy calls on senior officers of Kuwait Navy. A reception will be held on-board which will be attended by the senior civil and military officials of Kuwait, diplomats, notables and members of the Pakistani community.

    Pak Navy UAV crashes in Korangi oil refinery

    KARACHI: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of Pakistan Navy has crashed inside Korangi oil refinery here Tuesday, Geo News reported.

    According to Pakistan Navy sources, the UAV named ‘Uqab’ crashed in the refinery vicinity following bird hit. The craft was on usual training mission, sources added.

    Fire erupted in the refinery after the crash, however, no casualty has been reported, police sources said.

    Shortly after the accident, ambulances and fire brigades reached at the site while police has cordoned off the area.

    It is pertinent to note that the refinery area is a no fly zone.

    Two STUS and Frigate join PN Fleet

    KARACHI: PN ships Madadgar and Rasadgar, the Small Tanker cum Utility Ships (STUS) have been commissioned and PNS Alamgir formally inducted in Pakistan Navy Fleet during an impressive ceremony held at Pakistan Navy Dockyard here on Tuesday.

    The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Noman Bashir graced the occasion as chief guest while the ceremony was also attended by officials from Ministry of Defence (MoD), Flag Officers from Pakistan Navy, senior management of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) and other distinguished guests.

    PN Ships Rasadgar and Madadgar, the first ships of their class, have been indigenously constructed in Pakistan by Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW). Induction of STUS will increase logistic redundancy to Pakistan Navy fleet. These state of the art crafts are designed and equipped for multi-facet roles with robust and reliable modern machinery and equipment.

    Meanwhile, PNS Alamgir (Ex USS MCINERNEY) is an Oliver Hazard Perry Class guided-missile frigate. The ship was commissioned in Pakistan Navy on August 31th, 2010 after which she underwent major refurbishment and essential work in the U.S. The OHP Frigates are being used by a number of navies. PNS Alamgir will augment Maritime Security Operations capacity in the Arabian Sea in addition to supporting Pakistan Navy Surface Fleet.

    Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Noman Bashir while addressing the audience congratulated all those who were involved in the STUS Project and induction of Alamgir and also expressed satisfaction on the induction of these crafts in Pakistan Navy Fleet.

    Pakistan to purchase six modern submarines from China

    Islamabad: Pakistan would get six modern submarines from China, defence sources said late on Monday.

    Pakistan’s defence sources said that Pakistan Navy would purchase six modern and well equipped UN-041 Qing Class submarines from China.

    The submarines would help increasing Pakistan Navy’s second strike ability. The submarines have ability to take war heads.

    The submarines are also equipped with AIP system, according to which the submarines can survive for a long time in deep water.

    The on going debate was which submarine type is PN getting and the rough guess were for Song or Yuan class submarines but PN is going for Qing class submarines

    Packs a serious punch!
    Best of all.... we will finally be able to launch SLCM with nukes.

    CJ-10K is another huge plus!

    Indian started another Nuclear arms race by inducting N-submarines (its their right) but we have to take some decisions in our defense.
    Suppose each ship carrying at least 10 Nuclear cruise missile out of 42, So we need another 60 N-warheads or maybe more, in future i expect more propaganda from our enemies against our nukes May God help us in this cause.

    We have such systems too matey... PN will be gaining 'ground'(excuse the pun) over the next few years.
