Some of this has to do with Parenting also, IMO children should be monitored by parents till they mature/become 18 years old.

Also parents must be educated about how to block offensive sites from reaching children. They must set the Home PC @ living rooms & also must enable parental filters to block offensive sites. I think internet also have its part in this, it must be used under parental supervision for minors. Too much information available @ fingertip, also too much whatever you seek @ fingertip, minor's internet usage should be monitored for misuses.

    Sad state of affairs...

What I meant is Parents must monitor children/minors while using internet.
How does such a shit fantasy come to the mind of children?? Internet where else. If one has a shit mind fantasy & searches for something like that it's readily available on internet, these will increase the chances of such incidents. So I think Parenting can prove a difference here. Monitoring your children while using internet is a good step towards that.

its not the internet only there are books on Mastram and aurthors like him which are famous in people and then the friends too play a role in it... monitoring your child is good but giving him good morals from birth is more important so he can differentiate between fantasy and reality

Yes that too...but IMO can be monitored to an extent. If the children know their parents are keeping track of them, they will hesitate to do many things that they otherwise might do.

Agree completely...as the saying goes you can deduce a person by knowing his friends.

my parent has taken a constant vigil on me and still I was owner of biggest collection of adult books in my school.. romanced my next door girl...

only giving morals can change the situation nothing else.. just because my parents has grilled good things in me.. I realized these things are waste and changed my directions for life

But I guess being watchful is OK, considering the society & situations now. Morals are also necessary. Let's hope for a new India with less vice & rapes

    Re: 13-year-old gangraped in Mumbai

Some Traditions are good, specially the worship of weapons and even the commands,
Most of the old commanders feel that the old way did make really strong willed soldiers,
Bayonet practice is used for the same purpose,

Frankly having biggest collection of adult books and romancing with girl next door is not due to bad parenting
But possibly due to no confidence on Child.

Possibly where the Indian parent fails is that when they find their child is reading an adult book, they react as if he raped all the girls in the society. It is age of curiosity and he will want to learn, so then its upto parent how he solves this problem

If the parent does not talk to the kid as a friend and mate, he will surely try to learn from his other mates, who are learning from a wrong source. This does not solve the child's curiosity but rather they search the environment for more info,

One of the kid living in my society, I saw him near a book shop at PM road, Fort, and I was talking to a friend and noticed this guy (was 17 year old just in Junior college) he was almost walking in front of the shop, Earlier I just ignored it but then i saw it was going on for 20 minutes.

I caught him. and he was scared, and knew something is wrong. Took him to a nice restaurant and talked to him. And he was saying that he was waiting for a friend. And i know he and his friend was bluffing. so I just said, I know you were looking at the adult book. and he was scared, and his reaction was NO NO.
I said, I did see him looking at it, and then he almost collapsed and said "dont tell my mom" and i smiled and asked "Why should i tell your mother, you are curious and I know it. I shall give you a magazine to see, see it, do not tear a page, but for heavens sake, take it our of your system."

I gave him a playboy (had some with me) and then almost for a week he was looking at them each day. He was almost waiting to talk to me. And I told him. You know about the womans body etc, Don't be too curious, such educaiton will come to you, dont be curious you will mess yourself, Then took him to a friend who stayed alone (his parents stay in Pune) and so he had all the time to see and lot of books. Saw a few porn. and then he was OK,

In India such knowledge is "restricted" and then kids get highly curious, else shitty magazine like Debonair would not sell for Rs 200 ha ha ha ha.

So in this particular situation, it is not the parents, but also the peers who should pass some knowledge to answer their curiosity, else they get too curious and try to "experience" something and end up having STD etc.

You should see the 17 year old kids just passed 10th haha you can see their eyes they are excited, eager and curious, but they dont know who to speak to. So they need someone elder but approachable to talk, to share some confidence.
