Amarinder Singh opposed setting up of a nuclear power plant in Punjab. The way to actually bring down the costs of electricity is to set up nuclear power plants across every state. In addition to the Solar Power thrust being made by Government, this is the only way that we can afford economical electricity in the long run.

I'm not totally against capt on this (his official excuse of it being a safety issue is pretty dumb tho), given Punjab is quality arable land mostly....and its already a premium to set up factories and such on the land that isnt etc.

Wouldn't it be better to set up more nuclear power in say Rajasthan, Northern Deccan, MP etc and transmit it across to the consumers in the north indian grid?

You need water to cool the plant down. In case of rivers, the water from the plant is above normal temperature due to it being used as a coolant. This can be a hazard in a river system, unless the river system is quite big.

Also, water is needed to produce steam. As you can see, its better to make nuclear plants near the sea due to this.

Also, you need to consider transmission losses.

No one will buy this power from Punjab easily unless Pb Govt takes a hit because last Govt signed PPA at much higher rates from private players who set up 3 plants in Punjab. The present govt is desperate now to find a way out

They don't like buying Hindu Electricity from Hindu India instead they would prefer power cuts be extended to whole 24 hours a day. They would rather prefer to die in summer due to heat exhaustion rather than use Kuffar Hindu electricity.:p:cheesy:

We don't need anything from India, It would be a suicidal deal for Pakistan because if we became dependent on Indian would start dictating us by cutting power in peek hours so that we would surrendered to Indian demands.

We need one more year after that many of currently under construction projects will complete and will starts generating electricity.
