It's in works and meant for the F4 upgrade, available only from 2023.

Different weight classes, better load configs, multimately mode seeker...
We have talked about this before.

As I said before, that's not an issue anymore, thanks to the changes in the DPP 2016 and the SP policy:

I think some time back, someone asked similar question on Tejas official fb page about weight reduction in mk1A version and Admin replied they can reduce weight around 250kgs only

@Sancho have the right to speak about a new plane waiting end of 2017 second quarter for its first fly, as if it was existing and operational, saying it carry this, its range is that etc... But you are not allowed to speak of a minor improvement on an existing and operational aircraft.

Gripen E on target for debut flight in second quarter

Yes 4 new LPD are definitely on the fray, soon to be reality
Its between - L&T has a tie-up with Navantia of Spain and RDEL with DCNS of France
Presonally I like the Navantia design better
Though there is a ton of material on public forum - few

 As I told you in the EF thread as well, I don't take imaginary things to account, no matter for which fighter. That's why I only talk about known performance or technical capabilities, that at least are under integration or contracted.
So while we know only about Gripens final flight performance, when the final version is out, we know which weapons and techs are contracted by Sweden or Brazil for integration. That's why we know that it will have the SDB / MAR 1 combo for SEAD for example, or that it will have a wider FoV AESA, or that it will have a capable IRST, by 2019...

The problem with Rafale in this case is, that you have no choice currently, than pointing to the future and F4 or even MLU capabilities, simply by the fact that the F3R hardly gets export customers anything, to keep up with EF P3E or Gripen E capabilities.

So get over the hurt feelings and accept the facts, that other fighters are better than Rafale in some areas, at least till 2023.

But what makes you think that the Gripen E will be available before 2023? The Brazil contract?

If it is necessary to wait for the Rafale, there are reasons, the same reasons also apply to the Gripen, whatever the statements are made by the manufacturer.

Which is the ballast weight that were used it the prototypes, but the same weight will be added by AESA and other upgrades, to result in an actual weight gain of 50Kg:

Exactly, the poor F3R upgrade, that doesn't add much to Rafale. But if you like it or not, that is the appropriate upgrade base to compare EF P3E and Gripen E.

Hey, if you quote me, I cross my quota of rants over here. I was only bringing @PARIKRAMA upto speed on my last rant's initiation point. We have had this discussion about 9 months back, so he was collating what I had told him then :D

The process of LPDs procurement will surely start soon, but the 1st vessel won't see service before 2027.

    Various reasons behind it..
