It's a very important change in the MII approach for Dassault.
Before Dassault needs an order for 90 planes to initiate MII. Now a follow on order (of 36) seems enough.

No problem; LockMart will provide a nice glossy brochure that explains the F-35 is a superluminic plane with ten gazillion megatons of thrust and a payload capacity roughly equal to the mass of Jupiter.

LM can try something but we must not disrespect for the UAE: formidable experts in the field who know how to exploit the information of experts of all kinds and who return home very quickly "the sellers of tie".
If the US agrees, they will buy F35s knowing exactly how they can use them. And they will buy other planes so that their fleet is not totally stuck on the ground directly from Washington.

True, but no matter how bad it is in performance, it has 1 key advantage - "stealth" and that changes the game!

Any place where politics doesn't play against it, F35 wins over Rafale. If politics (and ToT) weren't a factor with India, we too would choose F35 over Rafale. Any fleet containing F-35 would be overwhelmingly superior to an equivalent fleet of Rafale.

Dassault expects to have the opportunity of a real technical confrontation with the F-35 to ridicule it. That's one of the reasons it is a candidate in Canada, when we all know that Canada will buy American.

Only Canada and Finland left and it could take years.

    Any other future possibilities?

    US General Hostage:
    http://www.businessinsider.com/david-cenciotti-the-f-35-fleet-will-be-irrelevant-2014-2?IR=T
“If I do not keep that F-22 fleet viable, the F-35 fleet frankly will be irrelevant. The F-35 is not built as an air superiority platform. It needs the F-22,” Hostage told the Air Force Times.

    News from 2012:
    http://aviationweek.com/awin/israel-us-agree-450-million-f-35-ew-work
“We think the stealth protection will be good for 5-10 years, but the aircraft will be in service for 30-40 years, so we need EW capabilities [on the F-35] that can be rapidly improved,” a senior Israeli air force (IAF) official tells Aviation Week.

    The Americans screwed up.
    http://www.af.mil/Portals/1/documents/airpower/Air Superiority 2030 Flight Plan.pdf
The Air Force’s projected force structure in 2030 is not capable of fighting and winning against this array of potential adversary capabilities.
Gaining and maintaining air superiority to enable joint force operations in 2030 and beyond requires a new approach.

They admit their F-22s and F-35s are not going to win them any future wars.
