Saab has confirmed that it has responded to the Indian government’s Request for Information to procure new aircraft as per IAF’s needs. Saab has responded with Gripen E which if chosen has committed to manufacturing Gripen E in India, under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Saab India Chairman Jan Widerström has said on many occasions that Saab will work closely with Indian industry and create an aerospace ecosystem in India in the coming years.

Examples of sending right messages... While DA is mostly silent & losing out. if DA was agressive enough could have even stopped need for Single MII am sure LM would have protected its turf in world 2nd biggest arms market. India is exactly what China is in GDP terms, except we 15-20 years behind, so imagine the market DA willing to dilute its hold. Same problem with Russians..

No matter what argument is made......
This Situation is of our Creation.....and our creation only....
If we still have to import a single engine LWF like the F-16 or Gripen or any other....Then that will perhaps mean that the LCA program has failed.....completely....

The AMCA is just a dream.....We have yet to develop any kind of an aerial stealth platform...The Technical Challenges will be huge...Given the fact that it took us decades to bring out a single engine non stealth fighter......(of which the very critical components are still imported)...and is yet to be fully operationalised.....

I fear that whatever we do now....might be too little...too late

Oh....so the MK1A prototype is yet to fly, MK2 is non existant...(it's 2017 now)....and we will see an AMCA prototype before 2020......Come on.....

@ReddyMan forget to make the conversion Normal time -----> Indian Time: 2020 is in 4 years conversion is *8 so AMCA will be in 32 years in 2048 with ReddyMan estimate.

That conversion rate formula has proved to be accurate so far. You deduced the Rafale deal-signing timeframe this way and it was also accurate. :rafale:

    It's scary.

File a patent for it? :hmm: You could be one of the leading mathematicians of our time.

The main advantage now for Dassault is that production of Indian Rafale is made in Normal time compare to negociations where Boeing, L.M., SAAB perform in Indian time. :rockroll::France:

In fact TIME is the best Friend of IAF

All the Mig 21 and Mig 27 have to be replaced one day ; no matter what
So replacements have to be there

And our Friends -- China and Pakistan will continue with their acquistions
    so we have to respond

Sometimes I really wonder that if China and Pakistan were our friends
we would still be flying GNATS ; HUNTERS and CANBERRAS

All our purchases are done in compulsion

No, for us, French, it doesn't matter! If India wants L.M. or SAAB it doesn't matter, with 84 Rafale for export the assembly line will not be closed soon, we will reach the MLU of Rafale and then we will order 45 new Rafale because we need 225 and after that it will be time to replace the first Rafale (procured in 2001) by Rafale MLU. So from a strategic point of view every thing is OK for France. After that if there is more Rafale at export it's beneficial for Dassault, it's interesting but it's low priority for France and even for Dassault because Falcon is much more beneficial than Rafale. But India is a Friend and we will do our best to answer to your needs.

Yes our Defence minister had already wrapped down most of India existing Armament factories from WW2 & was openly calling for no need for defence forces at all to exist in India, since China & Pak be our friends, same was endorsed with PM Nehru. plan to do all economic development only.

Then China did 1962, only war Indians ever lost due to depleted forces & low morale - cant thank Chinese enough, had they waited few more years, it would have been a walk over almost.

Never ever again India will ever be without strong Defence force.

I am sure it is safe to assume it is Elbit built (asked) JHMCS seems reasonable as export clearance was given this summer.

Not many know that even though we lost war, Indians with world war 2 vintage rifles, facing numerical superior Chinese with machine guns, more Chinese fatalities occurred in war.:offtopic:

That's very different. That was a scam. You have given examples of scams.

Scams are obviously under media scrutiny. No amount of advertisement will help then.
