In a big announcement, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that Central Government has decided to provide a minimum aid of Rs 1 crore to the paramilitary jawans who lost their lives while serving the nation, ANI reported. While speaking at the 25th Raising Day Parade of Rapid Action Force (RAF), Singh said, “we decided we will provide a help of minimum Rs 1 Crore to families’ of all our jawans who are martyred while serving nation.(sic)” Singh also said that 5 new battalions will be added to Rapid Action Force and they will become fully functional from January 2018. The Home Minister was accompanied by DG CRPF Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, the duo also took an inspection of the event.

However, this is not the first time that Singh has made such promise. Earlier too, Singh had promised that Rs 1 crore will be given to the family members of each paramilitary Jawan who lost life for the nation. “The sacrifice of our jawans cannot be compensated with money. But the families of martyrs should not face any difficulty. Therefore, I will ensure that family of each paramilitary jawan gets at least Rs 1 crore as compensation,” he had said while visiting Sikkim in May.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, who had announced a similar aide for the Jawan’s belonging to Delhi long ago, reacted to the Singh’s statement and claimed that Centre has adopted what his government initiated. “I am happy Central Govt has adopted our Govt’s scheme. It is imp to respect our jawans. Their families shud feel that country cares for them,” Kejriwal tweeted.

This a good investment for the Solider's future. This would ensure that his family/siblings/children are well taken care of. Lump some money must not be given rather a monthly pay/allowance be given.

Oh please. First ensure the battle front CRPF troops in Naxal regions atleast have basic needs. I mean they complain musquito bites and most casualities are due to Malaria and dengue. Give them Odomos, good shelter, nice combat rifles, protective gear and radars. No need to equip full CRPF battalions. Only those in problamatic regions. And these can prevent martyrs.
