Su-34 frontline bombers arrived at the place of dislocation

Moscow, December 10. A batch of aircraft was transferred two days ago at the Novosibirsk branch of the Sukhoi Company — V.P.Chkalov Novosibirsk Aircraft Plant in the presence of the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Mr. Vladimir Gorodetsky and Novosibirsk Mayor Mr. Anatoly Lokot. Today the frontline bombers made a flight to the place of their deployment in one of the air units in the south of Russia.

The Novosibirsk branch of the Sukhoi Company — Novosibirsk Aircraft Plant currently operates at its maximum capacity. The State contract with the Ministry of Defense for supplies of the Su-34s to the Air Force till the year of 2020 provides a stable work load for the near future and determines its long-term development. The aircraft have been used successfully in the armed forces and demonstrated a high performance.

The bombers were delivered on the State contract for a large batch of Su-34s signed in 2012. The previous five-year contract for the Su-34s, signed in 2008, was completed last December. Those are the largest contracts for the supply of combat aircraft, provided by the State Armament Program for the years of 2011-2020.

The Su-34 features, in particular, are: an increased flight range of up to 4,000 km, a top speed of up to 1900 km/h, a combat payload of up to 8 tons. The aircraft is equipped with the latest weapon system and air—refueling system.

Twenty-eight Russian military planes were intercepted by NATO jets over the Baltic Sea earlier this week, the Latvian government said. Officials on Thursday said the recent upturn in Russian activity over the region is not a sign the Kremlin is “preparing to attack” but is testing NATO defense and reaction times.

NATO confronted 28 planes on Monday–including Russian Tu-95 and Tu-22 strategic bombers–over neutral waters near Latvia’s maritime border, reported Bloomberg News. On Sunday, 13 Russian planes were intercepted in the same area.

As Bloomberg notes, the increase in Russian plane activity poses a threat to commercial airliners because they fly sometimes with transponders turned off. There’s been an uptick in the number of Russian planes that have flown in the Baltic Sea in recent months amid tensions between the West and the Kremlin over Russia’s moves in eastern Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said last month that NATO’s interceptions of Russian planes in the Baltic region have increased by about three times.

MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Russia’s Air Forces will receive 55 T-50 PAK FA stealth fighters by 2020, Vladislav Goncharenko, a deputy head of the military aviation programmes department at Russia’s United Aircraft-building Corporation /UAC/, said on Monday.

“By 2020, a total of 55 fighters of the fifth generation are expected to be supplied to the Russian Air Force,” he told the Ekho Moskvy radio station. In his words, the army would receive first such aircraft in 2016.

“Now, we are building prototypes, conducting tests. Works proceed in line with the schedule,” he said.

PAK FA, which stands for Perspektivnyi Aviacionnyi Kompleks Frontovoi Aviacii, or Advanced Frontline Aircraft System, is a product of the Sukhoi Bureau, where its name is T-50. Five T-50 fighters have already been built and made their maiden flights, three more are under construction.

I have heared rumours that PAKFA has massive problems. India should wait with ordering it. It could be a huge money waste.
