Latest Russian Strikes on Syria Employ New Cruise Missile
    [IMG]
While the Kh-55 was produced in Kharkov in the Ukraine, the Kh-101/102 is of all-Russian manufacture. It is powered by a TRDD-50A turbojet producing 450 kg (990 pounds) of thrust . It entered service in 2013. Like the Kh-55, the Kh-101 is intended to destroy ground targets with known (fixed) coordinates. Maximum firing range reportedly falls between 4,500 and 5,500 km (2,400 and 3,000 nm). The 7.45-meter-long (24.5 foot) weapon has a launch weight of 2.2 to 2.4 tons (4,850 to 5,300 pounds), compared with 1.5-1.7 tons (3,300 to 3,750 pounds) for the Kh-55SM. The Kh-101/102 can be carried externally on pylons, or internally. The weapons bay of the Tu-160 is outfitted with two drum launchers each loaded with six missiles.

If it was produced in the Ukraine how can it be of all Russian manufactured.??

    1983
    Design[edit]
It is powered by a single 400 kgf Ukrainian-made, Motor Sich JSC R95-300 turbofan engine, with pop-out wings for cruising efficiency. It can be launched from both high and low altitudes, and flies at subsonic speeds at low levels (under 110 m/300 ft altitude). After launch, the missile's folded wings, tail surfaces and engine deploy. It is guided through a combination of an inertial guidance system plus a terrain contour-matching guidance system which uses radar and images stored in the memory of an onboard computer to find its target. This allows the missile to guide itself to the target with a high degree of accuracy.

The original Kh-55 had a drop-down engine; the Kh-65SE had a fixed external turbojet engine, whilst the Kh-SD had its engine inside the body of the missile. Current-production versions are equipped with the increased power of 450 kgf Russian-made NPO Saturn TRDD-50A engine.[9]

The Kh-101 version has a low radar cross-section, of about 0.01 square meters.[10]

Russian missile against IS has a message: That's for Paris
    London, Nov 21, 2015 (IANS)

Having vowed to escalate its military campaign against the Islamict State (IS), the Russian airmen have inscribed 'That's for Paris' on the side of one of the bombs they plan to use against the terrorist organisation in Syria, a media report said.

A picture of the bomb was shared from the official Twitter account of the Russian Embassy in Britain, the Independent reported.

Several coordinated gun and suicide bombing attacks on the French capital by Islamists killed 129 people on November 13.

The Russian military, over the last month, has conducted bombing missions in Syria and fired multiple cruise missiles at the IS stronghold of Raqqa, a Syrian city.

Russia has vowed to escalate its military campaign against IS in Syria after it confirmed the Metrojet airliner that crashed in the Sinai, killing 224 passengers, was brought down by a bomb.

British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon previously criticised the strikes, saying they may have killed "several hundred" civilians.

The Russian Navy plans to modernize Sukhoi Su-33 carrier-based aircraft. The first improved version of Su-33 carrier-based fighter with “Gefest” SVP-24 targeting system was spotted at M. M. Gromov Flight Research Institute. That was reported by military-informant.com.

The upgraded Su-33 fighter is fitted the “Gefest” SVP-24 targeting system for employing non-guided munitions. The SVP-24 enables the Su-33 to use a panoply of weapons against ground targets with surgical accuracy under any weather and climatic conditions.

According to open sources, the rest of the Su-33, will be modernized directly in the places of permanent deployment.

“Gefest” SVP-24 is a Russian advanced targeting system affords free-fall bombs the accuracy similar to that of smart bombs. The SVP-24 has now been confirmed to be mounted on the Russian SU-24s, SU-25s, Tu-22M3 “Backfires” and the Ka-52 helicopters.
In other words, it can be deployed on practically *any* rotary or fixed wing aircraft, from big bombers to small trainers.

The Su-33 is a single-seat multirole carrier-based conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) fighter aircraft. It is manufactured by Sukhoi in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Russia. The aircraft has been principally designed and developed to meet the requirements of the Russian Navy.

The aircraft is derived from its predecessor, the Su-27, and its Nato reporting name is Flanker-D. It performed its maiden flight in May 1985 and entered into service in 1994.
