Don’t forget Aleppo. Don’t forget Syria. Unless our towns are secure, you won’t enjoy security. Only death can take me from here. Everyone who is involved in this suffering will pay a price.

A Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman told reporters on Monday that the Russian ambassador to Turkey, Andrey Karlov, had died after being shot by a gunman.

"Today in Ankara as a result of an attack, the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkey, Andrey Gennadyevich Karlov, received a wound from which he died," spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

Dramatic television footage showed a man in a dark suit and tie waving a gun and gesturing in the air at the Ankara exhibition hall. A photograph posted on Twitter showed him holding a pistol, standing close to a podium in the gallery, its walls hung with pictures. Four people including what appeared to be the ambassador lay on the floor.

Numerous reports on social media identified the gunman as a police personnel. "The attacker is a policeman," Ankara mayor Melih Gokcek said on his official Twitter account.

The gunman in the attack has been "neutralised", Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency said.

Russia has called the killing a 'terrorist attack.'

Hurriyet newspaper's English website said ambassador Andrei Karlov was shot while making a speech and that Turkish special forces had surrounded the building. NTV said three other people were wounded.

    "
His cries during the assassination have been translated, according to a report at Business Insider. At first, he shouted in Arabic: “We’ve made an oath to Mohammed to die in martyrdom, [it is] revenge for Syria and Aleppo.”

Altintas then switched to Turkish and shouted, “Don’t forget Aleppo. Don’t forget Syria… You won’t be safe. Only my dead body will leave here.”

He was described as speaking Turkish with an “educated, Istanbul accent” with “no trace of foreign accent, Arab or otherwise.”"

He was handled by security forces later on.

Yeah, its sad to see Turkey go down this shithole path like its neighbours. There was a bombing few days ago.

Before reluctantly attacking ISIS, your country supported ISIS for years.
I also wonder global outcry that would have happened had Russia shot down a Turkish, US or a NATO plane.

What happened yesterday was indeed done by a terrorist, and these terrorists have been long encouraged by your Government.

Aleppo is a Syrian concern. Others should keep out.

Whole world is facing the terrorism but still unable to get together on this. The biggest benefits for these terrorists is that they uses Islam to spread hate.

You should tell all the rich Gulf countries, who have so much money that they offered to build mosques with it in Europe, to do their part. Whether it's displaced Palestinians or Syrian refugees, Gulf countries are generally conspicuous by their absence when it comes to taking them in, especially when you consider how much complaining they do about both issues on the international stage. If they really care about the Palestinian people and cause, or the Syrian people, they should first show that caring by taking in a proportional amount of refugees.
