Gorshkov is already in its final stage, moving away from here doesn't make any sense. And there is no official confirmation of the delays yet, all speculations.

And $2.3 billion for a 45K ton carrier is quite cheap, Elizabeth class will cost more than $6-7 billion.

    Not as easy as that...

India has shelled out a lot of $$$ to refurbish it. Ultimately it suits the IN's needs, which is the most important point. Dreams of HMS PoW or the Kitty Hawk are just that: dreams.

IAC2, unfortunately, will take a hell of a lot longer than the Vikramaditya to be ready for deployment.

Elizabeth class is a far off dream, we don't even know they'll sell it or not. All we have is some military expert's suggestion to sell it off to potential customers to bring down military expenditure.

We can negotiate for USS Kitty Hawk (With 70 F-18SH) for $7-8 Billion though.

Even Kitty Hawk has served 50 years of service, so as of now Admiral Gorshkov is the best deal.

Lol, the Vikramaditya won't be delayed by more than 6 months, so it could still make sea trials by 2012.

And really, there aren't any other aircraft carriers to go for. Not unless the US decide they can offload the Kitty Hawk fossil without attempting to impose a whole bunch of agreements and restrictions, nor insisting that we buy three squadrons of Rhinos to go with it...

Or you have this in offer, HMS Ark Royal.

Can station 18 ACs (Harriers),but don't know if Mig-29s or LCAs can be operated from it.

Kitty Hawk is not an option any more, considering the age of the hull and machinery within the ship. Pointless to even think about it. While the Vikramaditya project has been plagued with hiccups, it is a fait accompli. As for the future, India has to go with the IAC1 and IAC2, maybe even an IAC3. Reading the "tea leaves" or "coffee grounds", India will cap her Carriers at about 70k max. displacement size. Next paradigm shift in Naval Warfare will be away from "Mega-Carriers".

No, Nada, Nyet. So better to junk that proposal. And Harriers will soon be history.
