I hope they design something new then, I personally think the St George cross flag on an Indian warship is a rather horrific sight that signifies all that is wrong with a defeated colonised mindset.

Prefer it but what's the need of the cross at all, what does it have to do with the IN or Indian culture? If one religion is going to be represented then all should be or better yet NONE of them.

I'm sure the IN has the talent to come up with a new design that is more appropriate and more visible on the high seas.

huh??? religion?? .... Pal, think you are over analyzing it -- IT IS just a cross! ... what has this to do with religion??

There is a Whole lot of debate when trying to be neutral .... Case and point the naming of defence systems

The only reason the IN has it is because they inheritied from the Royal Indian navy.

Don't know why the IN can't follow the IA and IAF and redesign their flags to a more neutral/relevent design:

Well Agree!!The IN can improve and be more neutral .... Still After 49 Years the IN did come up with this

Flew on Naval Ship for 2001 - 2004

AND YOU have to agree that the other services Flags are derivatives of their predecessor , So why the IN be singled out???

The IA and IAF have sufficently adopted theirs to reflect their modern lineage, the IN's is still colonial in era, what relevence does the St George's cross have to the nation of India? It is a colonial relic bro that the IN proudly raises.

I know the IN changed their flag from 2001-4 and they should have kept that, not reverted back to the St George's cross.

All of Indian civil aircraft start with VT- or Viceroys Territory.

Plus, I hate the fact that it's Shtil-1 MRSAM compliment (9M317) had to be in that ridiculous arm-launcher configuration. The only saving grace is that in addition to the 24 x 9M317 rounds, it has the 32 Barak-1 PDMS VLS cells.

I'm glad this monstrosity is over though - all future ships will have VLS-only missiles. Adm. Grigorovich with the 9M317ME and all Indian ships with Barak-8.

With any luck, Shivalik, Talwar & Delhi-class SLEP (whenever they may come) will likely install the 9M317ME VLS in place of the arm-launcher and below-deck magazine (if not replace it entirely with Barak-8s atleast on the two Indian classes, we've had this conversation before remember?).
