Even after its fall in 1990
we are still enchanted by the History between the Soviets and the US,
many Russian still feel strongly about the Soviet Era.

and the USSR still remains one of the widely searched articles on the
Internet search engines along with the WW-II,
I would like to know your views about why is the former USSR
    still popular among the people.

this was a dream of equal opportunities and welfare for people without any influence and equal share of resources to all. this is the reason and USA and USSR 2 different ideologies fought hard to change the world to their ideology and both tried this on the basis of fear of worst rather then open war and the collapse of USSR was a shock to world and people who loved it and hated it still trying to get complete idea of its collaspe

Over about 80 years 150,000,000 people were murdred in the name of commuinism either directly or indirecty. There is not much to be admired about a system that kills that many people and turned out to be an absolute failure.

in the late 80's standard of living was higher than in the 90th.
After collapse of USSR level of industrial and military production has fallen many times, many people leshilis work. In addition, after the fall of USSR came to power a few oligarchs and traitors to their reforms have led to disastrous consequence. For 20 years after collapse of Soviet Union the population of Russia decreased by approximately 20 million people and continues to decline ...
That is why many people in Russia hate such terms like "liberalism", "democrasy" and other * hit came to us from the west and have feelings nostalgic about the Soviet Union

Because those were the times of power struggle, secrecy, desperation, alertness, and because in those days man mattered more than the machine. Also because US and USSR were the two most powerful countries ready to battle it out not just militarily, but also technologically, and politically.

Things have changed now. Everything is so transparent, and there's no sense of secrecy or desperation. In short, its not interesting times now. Cold war was the last adventure for humans, everything else would be so predictable compared to those days.

i disagree with u....the reason that we are not seeing a struggle now is because we have nothing to fight for, US has been undisputed superpower for sometime now, but as china increases its influence, and US tries to cling to power, we could a new, type of cold war, which may not bring the world to a complete destruction, but surely be a defining struggle of this century....moreover, it will be multipolared, will more players involved....

More than these numbers were counted by the US during officially "Vietnam, Iraq (I & II), Afghanistan, and unoffically on Afghanistan, Korean war, supporting to govt for its own profit. But US remain as white collor country while USSR remains as RED due to better advertisment/propogenda media channels...... And all world know this !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, standoff between the "atlantic civilization" and "east slavic civilization" began much earlier. Already in the 18-19 century, it was the confrontation between the English Empire and Russia Empire. For example anglo-afgan war. Due to its strategic location in the heart of Eurasia, Afghanistan became an arena of struggle between two powerful nations at the time: the British and Russian empires.
Later on USA vs USSR and so on ... It just big geo-political game.
This game always was, even among ancient empires, this game will exist as long as humanity will exist.

And in modern time we have interesting situation ... growing power of China, India develops, the crisis in Europe, USA are slowly losing its position, the indefinite future of Russia etc.

And I do not think what cold war is last adventure for humans. Any big geopolitical event can make big change in the world.
