So you want to take a multi million dollar fighter 1000Km inside of enemy airspace to take out some tanks on a train? Isn't that what long range cruise missiles like Brahmos or Nirbhay are meant for?

Yes, it's called Air Interdiction or also known as Deep Air Support (DAS).

Nope. There are way too many targets for Brahmos and Nirbhay.

Plus these are trains, Brahmos or Nirbhay won't be able to engage such a dynamic target.

Not really, since you just take out crucial railway routes, roads and bridges, not every single tank, vehicle or even trains. That's basic warfare, taking out enemy logistics to reduce it's attack, or defence capabilities.
Same goes for fighters / air bases! The more airbases can be take out of operation, the less fighters or force multipliers can be deployed. That's why Brahmos on the MKI or getting any cruise missile in IAF's inventory is so important now.
For CAS in the close to medium range, the MKI even has the Kh29 and heavier KAB bombs, what it needs is the lighter range of guided weapons. That's where LGBs and stand off PGMs would be important for the upgrade and where (Sudarshan and) a smart glider class of weapon would had been very useful to complement or improve it's capabilities.
Basic tank hunting on the other side, can be done by LCA or Jags (they even got the cluster bombs for ta king out groups of armored vehicles), if they get a helina type of weapon and would be far more cost-effective than an MKI.

And you can take out logistics with Brimstone also.

You can't use regular PGMs against targets that are moving at high speeds. You need Brimstone or similar.

Angola Negotiating To Buy Russian Su-30K Fighters Returned By India

Russia and Angola are negotiating the purchase of six additional Su-30K fighters.

Luanda will be able to increase its fleet and Moscow will be able to get rid of the aircraft returned by the India built in fulfilment of the contract signed in 1996-1998. These are the same aircraft Luanda contracted in 2013 but has to still receive the aircraft. Russian officials nevertheless insist that the contract is executed in accordance with the agreements, Kommersant reported Friday.

The fact that Russian and Byelorussian specialists are searching for buyers for six Su-30K fighters stored in Belarus, was confirmed by a source in the aviation industry to Kommersant.

This was confirmed by the director of the 558th aircraft repair plant (ARZ) Pavel Pinigin, who arrived at the MAKS-2017 airshow (Zhukovsky).

According to him, the search for a buyer is "just a matter of time" and "no significant problems arise": "Do not rush, and everything will be all right."

In turn, sources of Kommersant in the field of military-technical cooperation (MTC) clarified that negotiations for the supply of six fighters are being conducted with Angola. Representatives of Rosoboronexport and the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation refused to comment.

The history of these Su-30Ks began in 1996-1998. Then, the Irkut corporation signed a contract for the supply of the Su-30MKI fighter aircraft to India, but because of the need to prepare the capacity for the deployment of serial production of new aircraft, the customer was provided with simplified versions of the fighters with an obligation to replace them in the future.

These obligations were fulfilled: simplified fighters were replaced with Su-30MKI, and in 2011, 18 Indian-returned Su-30K were driven to 558th ARZ in Baranovichi, after which Rosoboronexport began searching for potential buyers for them.

The aircraft were offered to Byelorussia, Sudan, Vietnam (the factory was even visited by a military delegation from Hanoi), as well as Angola.

In October 2013, during the visit to Angola, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin signed a contract for the purchase of 12 Indian aircraft and related supply, which implied the issuance of a loan of $ 1 billion to the customer.

It was assumed that Angola would receive the machines as soon as possible (they had to be repaired and upgraded to the Su-30KN level), but in 2015 the Air Force commander General Francisco Afonso specified that the fighters will be delivered by 2017. As of January 2017, Angola has not received any aircraft.

India will ruin Su-30MKI Fleet with Kaveri engines: Russian Defence Analysts
    Published August 6, 2017 SOURCE: RAUNAK KUNDE / NEWS BEAT / IDRW.ORG

Reacting to India media reports that India and France have discussion to develop a 125kN Kaveri engine to replace AL-31FP engines in Su-30MKI , s Andrei Frolov, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Export of Arms” , a researcher at the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies told Russian media that India will ruin its Su-30MKI Fleet with Kaveri engine upgrade and is a rather strange step. Frolov also said that ” India will require services of Irkut Corporation the Orginal makers of Su-30MKI to carry out engine replacement but also doubted if Russian companies will agree to help India coordinate such changes”. Frolov also added that ” We have given enough Transfer of Technology to Indian companies and Indians have practically mastered the independent production of the Su-30 and they might not require Russian help at all”. in the end he was also doubful if the development will be seriously pursued since Indo-French Kaveri engine for LCA-Tejas is yet to be developed . Frolov also pointed out that India and Russian recently signed a contract to improve spares for AL-31FP engines along with its gradual localization. Report agreed that India might want to reduce its dependence on Russia in support of its Su-30MKI but also warned that non-authorised changes will result in Russian companies pulling out of sales and service support.

IAF SU-30MKI AIRCRAFT TO GET NEW RECONNAISSANCE PODS
FRIDAY, AUGUST 11, 2017 BY INDIANDEFENSE NEWS

Indian Air Force Sukhoi fighter jets will be equipped with new reconnaissance pods under INR 3,000 crore proposal recently cleared, amid rising tensions with China and Pakistan.
The aircraft with new reconnaissance pods will help detect hardened terrorists in remote locations such as mountains and bunkers, India Today reports Thursday.
It can also identify bunkers built by the enemy in hidden terrain. The reconnaissance pods will help analyse suspected terrains where high value enemy assets or terrorists could be hiding and further locate the target and eliminate it.
The aircraft is already being upgraded for carrying the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which would be hitting targets in ranges up to 300 km.
It was reported last month that the Air Force is also planning to enhance the enemy detection capabilities with advanced radar like the Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar which can help the IAF pilots to track enemy planes and target more effectively and at longer ranges.
The IAF has placed the orders for 272 Su-30MKIs from Russia in different batches and they have been deployed across the country at different locations in 12 squadrons.

I am not an expert so please explain me one thing. If brahmos or nirbhay can destroy runways , railway tracks, bridges or roads then why do we need to bring costly planes for the same task. Is it not wise to make quicker, stealthier, long range, accurate precision missiles instead of investing billions for fighter planes?

It's because the enemies will rebuild. So if you want the targets to stay destroyed, you need aircraft to ensure it stays that way.
