SFC do not operate MKI now or in future..

Nuke tipped BMos can come in GLCM and SLCM.. ALCM.. No plans as of now..

The air launched nuke tipped delivery vehicle is a different project.. Its contours wont be visible for quite some more time..

PS - the speculations that 42 odd mainframe were reinforced or hard wired is a wrong information. The only reinforcement done was for carrying the Brahmos nothing else.

Heck MKI is not even considered for secondary N strike mission if primary delivery aircraft /aircrafts failed or already taken out due to unforeseen circumstances...

A decade back it was Mirages , Jags and Mig27s.. Now its Mirages and Jags .. In future it will be Rafales and Mirages.. and finally only Rafales when Mirages retire or a suitable other aircraft (s)

The ALCM Nuke tipped concept with Brahmos is not happening in its present form.. its warhead is all except nuclear..

Our only air delivered nukes are gravity bombs.

Your info is grossly wrong. I will not elaborate or comment further.

Only MKI will be used for nuke delivery roles, once SFC gets the modified airframes with Brahmos-A. Rafales will be used for DEAD role to clear out a path for the MKIs.

Era of gravity dropped nuke bombs are over. IAF will be concentrating on stand-off strikes from now on. Both Jags and M2Ks will be removed from nuke roles ones the MKIs are available.

Rafales with Brahmos-NG will only be used for conventional strikes in high A2D scenarios.

More orders for MKIs were known for sometime now, especially with the delay in FGFA program. HAL can't afford to leave the MKI line idle.

The free fall you are talking about was up to the late 90s. Post that there were changes. @Hellfire was part of SFC, I think reading from his posts.

What is the current mode of nuke delivery for Airforce then ?

What i heard is that the free fall bombs will be taken out of service once the MKI-Brahmos combo is ready.

    It does.

Gliders are newer but MP based M2K’s and Gorakhpur based Jags all still carry gravity based.

Even USA on B series aircraft carry gravity based

There is no SFC designated squadron !!!! Till date. Even Mirage 2000s can not be called SFC designated Squadrons.

    Never was 59. Always 49 ----> 40 + 9 follow on.

Thanks to a serving Starred Officer, two were written off :) (having fun here, he was involved in both aircraft crashes of Mirage 2000)

    I like this.

Let me make an effort to help you reach conclusions on your own now. Please humor me in answering the undermentioned queries:

    1. How many Brahmos Missile Regiments are there in the Indian Army? (Information as provided Officially and in Public Domain)
    2. Which formation has them?
    3. What is the role of the formation which holds these missiles?
    4. What is the smallest caliber on which India can place it's nuclear device and deliver with fair bit of accuracy?
    5. What is the stated objective of Indian Armed Forces when we talk about "Cold Start"?

Yep. I have an opinion. Always ;)

A good ticklish idea. But then, I have similar feeling for a 155 mm carrying a 0.1 Kt out to 35 kms while I am in a trench 6 ft x 6 ft x 3 ft lying curled up at it's bottom :D

Let the member @X_Killer answer this question by answering a series of Questions I have posted up for him to humor me with. I shall come back once he has done with that bit.

Will really have to dig that figure out .. we have discussed that figure too 3 years back elsewhere. Overall look at a figure closer to 420 ... inclusive of replacement for attrition.

What we are doing is fair bit of musing and discussing various permutations and combinations. It will continue to vary with what the thought process (as can be made out from open sources and 'leaks') is in vogue at present.

I am sure you shall agree a definitive figure should only be given once it is open sourced? It is like the number of missile regiments and their holdings .... :)
