I still have hope from SP.Private companies just might have enough x-factor to sell what DRDO never could.Call me a romantic.

Well always good(depressing) to here it officially.

I don't even care at this point.I will probably ignore this thread till something happens with SP.

Armour development is practically unknown in civilian circles. Most information comes from damaged tanks in wars.

There was never an Arjun saga to begin with. There simply wasn't any room for it due to budget constraints.

250 tanks is the best we can manage.

FMBT is not T-14. Arjun is also 'dead' for all purposes.

Arjun development will continue under FMBT. But our next battle tank will be under the FRCV program. Private companies along with their respective foreign design bureaus will compete with each other to produce a family of tanks, howitzers, SAM platforms and IFVs. DRDO will be the technology partner.

The FRCV will have 11 different vehicles, all the way from the MBT to an armoured ambulance.

So we are talking about a clean sheet design.

I don't know how the Design/Development/Prototype stage works, but they should do something sensible about it. Basically, one company will design it, a different company will develop it, and one or two companies (possibly OFB and a private company) will produce it.

All indigenous tank plans may be ditched if Russian 2S25M Sprut SDM tanks are chosen by the Indian Army as these tanks are lighter and weighs only 25 tonnes can be airlifted. 1022642787.jpg

IA is interested in 100+ light tanks. So it may fulfill this requirement.

This tank will not affect MBT programs.

Yes the T-14 and T-15 procurements are now the target to replace BMP's and T-72's and even Air Defence Corps will get chance to replace Tunguska's and other mobile AAA and mobile SAM

y not anyhow army is said to have rejected ArJun tanks, so people of India should buy these tanks and keep them in the empty lands, anyhow I doubt the performance of T90 or T72, as we have to save ourselves from invasion we the people of India should buy our tanks.

stupid army fellows don't want Arjun tanks but want every thing it has in this Russian junk they r proud of, a little more money greased in the palm of the generals & they start praising Arjun too, only the lower officers like jco's and soldiers r non corrupted, rest can't be said the same.
The famed T90 brought shame to Indian armoured regiments in Russian biathlon when its engines breakdown while the Chinese were laughing, still the generals call Arjun as junk, how funny.
