I plan to give this next year, but i am a wee bit worried that corporate employees will find it hard to keep their jobs. You need to be emplyed to join the TA, what happens if you are unemployed ?

Unemployed is a relative term. Suppose your father owns a Cigarette shop? They make more money than a salaried guy!!

Now if you are unemployed, so what if you show yourself employed as such in family business?

The only difference is, you get paid for the 'mustered' time only. Otherwise not.

Now the situation is, majority of TAs are deployed in Valley..... so .. :)

    a full time mustering?

Obviously no pensions etc are admissible. But on the other hand, CSD facilities are extended. That does get your monthly expenses down quite a bit on regular use items.

I am employed right now, these people are very pesky when it comes to asking for leaves, so not sure how they will respond to 2 months hiatus..

If you become unemployed then you can choose to become a full time officer. The advantage is you can go back to being a part time officer later on.

But the drawback is you can't climb beyond the Brigadier rank even if you go full time, I think.

You tell them and apply. There is no 'leave' issue. Fill the form and head for the exam. If you clear, join.

No one in this world has the guts to fire you from your job or refuse the Armed Forces and through them, the President of India, your orders for embodiment. Those are 'recall to active duty' orders! That company/firm will wind down faster than word wind down. Not to mention, you can sue their ass off for termination if required!

This is a very tricky situation. Trust me, the company will not stop you from going on active duties when required.

How does it matter? A great job. And a greater adventure. And if you get killed ------ you die a hero. In real life, not even a dog gives a piss for our lives. :D

You get pension if you physically serve in the TA for 20 years.

    • Entitlement to pension for Officers with 20 years aggregate embodied service (actual Physical service).

I know, but I was laying out the options for him.

If he doesn't feel like he will be gainfully employed as a civilian, then he can opt for regular army instead of TA and work full time there.
